About me

Through my experience of nearly two decades of working within the mental health industry, I have continued to develop my empathy skills, along with a strong sense of compassion for my clients. I have the energy and motivation to wholeheartedly try to help my clients change.

Over the course of my years in practice, I have had the honour to participate in different treatment programmes and within a variety of contextual settings. This has included having the privilege to work at some of Europe’s leading private clinics including: Smarmore Castle, Lifeworks Community, and Promis Clinics. I have also worked as a therapist in a prison and at a college. These organisations have taught me to fully understand the different treatment options available. This has enabled me to now use this experience to create dynamic bespoke treatment plans, tailored for a persons individual needs.

I have a speciality of treating addictions, as I have spent many years working with this client group. In addition, my previous work has included working with dynamic client groups, with a variety of illnesses. For example, clients who suffer from diagnosed mental health conditions, including eating disorders and mood disorders- such as anxiety and depression. I also have the skill and dedication to offer help to people who have severe mental health conditions, such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

I treat without judgment and with safe boundaries any: age, sex or sexual orientation, race, disability, religious beliefs or no religious beliefs.

Family members and clients have on occasion sent me thank you cards when completing therapy. Some common themes within these cards describe me as; kind, patient, a good listener, trustworthy, having integrity, being compassionate, empathic, gentle, humble, caring and going the extra mile.

If you would like to enquire or ask for any further information please contact me via email or telephone.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Research has concluded, that there is a strong indication that a person with family or a caring support system involved in their care, can positively influence and enhance their therapy. I am very fortunate to have gained the experience of facilitating family therapy programmes. So as part of a persons therapy, I can offer family meetings, updates and sometimes family therapeutic interventions.
