About me

Do you feel like you want to be more true to yourself?

Sick of not being able to describe how you feel?

Have you been told that you are hurting those around you?

Have you experienced abuse and wish to regain control?

Let's take action!

# Hi, I have been having issues with my email. Please add your phone number if you would like to work together. I will only text you first and arrange a call from there. 🙂 #

The first step in overcoming indescribable emotions is often the hardest, and the idea of speaking about them can be frightening. It takes time to gain confidence and become comfortable with the process. I work with individuals and couples in Preston, Lancashire to slowly explore emotional pain. I can help you express how you feel and find comfort from anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, intrusive thoughts, anger, hearing voices that are not your own, fears of self, behavioural change, etc.

"Richard has always been easy to speak with, kind and compassionate, and offered me really helpful and practical strategies" - TH

Everyone requires a different approach to therapy, and I customise my approach to fit your needs. I continue to develop my skills to provide a beneficial experience that helps you grow and develop during and beyond every session. We can always learn from each other, building on our experiences to find nourishment from emotional pain.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you. For the first time, I feel I have found myself." – JW

As a proactive therapist, I offer different perspectives on feelings and situations. This includes challenging and working with you to develop a deeper understanding of who you are, the boundaries you need, and those you do not.

"I am enjoying food, have good health and energy, food is not a focus, and I am no longer a slave to the eating disorder I once had, yes had. I feel free of the demons" - CH

I also specialise in working with men and couples to find ways to express how they feel and understand their emotions. I help them learn to communicate more effectively and reduce conflict.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about what I can offer. More about my personal journey Living with intrusive thoughts is hard and overwhelming, whether they stem from depression, anxiety, or suicidal ideation.

At times in my life when I attempted to take my own life, simply because I didn't know what was happening or how to manage the pain. I now know these feelings are our mind and body telling us something isn't right in our lives and it needs to be addressed, from the past or the present. In addition, I also live with PTSD, which can be challenging at times. However, I've learned to recognise when it's happening and how to manage it, even though it's not always easy.

I'm sharing this with you because I know firsthand how difficult it is to live with these feelings and thoughts. But I also know, from personal experience and working with others, that they can be managed and overcome.

I have worked with individuals and groups to help overcome abuse, addiction, eating disorders, anxiety, depression and develop acceptance of schizophrenia and suicidalthoughts. I have struggled with my own mental health, and I know how difficult it can be to open up. It has led me on a path to understand how we can improve how we feel and maintain wellbeing. I have worked with several organisations and have a breadth of knowledge to draw upon to help you. Here are some examples of the work I have done.

    hearing voices.
  • Food and Mood – created a bespoke course delivering a 12-week programme helping individuals understand the impacts of their association to food and how this can impact on their mental health.
