About me
Hi,
Thanks for taking a look at my profile :).
I work in a straightforward, supportive way. I listen carefully, help you make sense of what’s going on, and support you to work through the thoughts and feelings that may be holding you back.
I use an integrative approach, drawing on different ways of working depending on what you need.
The main areas I work with are:
- Autism and/ or ADHD, which is the focus of my PhD research
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Childhood trauma
- Domestic abuse
- Relationship issues
I also bring lived experience of anxiety, depression, PTSD and autistic/ADHD traits, so I understand how overwhelming things can feel and how exhausting it can be to keep going while masking.
I aim to offer a calm, non-judgemental space where you can talk things through and begin to feel more in control.
Here are some of the things my clients say
"It’s like talking with your family without judgment, an easy, insightful chat that opens your mind to new perspectives." IC
"Richard demonstrates such a deep understanding and knows how best to work with us to achieve positive results." SW
"Since attending therapy, I’ve turned a new leaf in my life and adopted a whole new outlook. I feel positive after every session!" LE
"Absolutely fantastic. I felt really welcome and listened to. The advice was clear and helpful. Really looking forward to my next session." MB
There’s no pressure. No expectations. Just a conversation to see if I’m the right fit for you.
"Richard just gets people. He listens, but he also helps you figure things out. I finally feel like I have a way forward." AL
"Coop is an unbiased and constructive listener. He serves as a sounding board and does not attempt to "fix"; he's a life guide, very insightful, well-informed and wise" LE

Experience
I have worked with individuals and groups to help overcome abuse, addiction, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and develop acceptance of schizophrenia and suicidal thoughts. I have struggled with my own mental health, and I know how difficult it can be to open up. It has led me on a path to understand how we can improve how we feel and maintain well-being. I have worked with several organisations and have a breadth of knowledge to draw upon to help you. Here are some examples of the work I have done.
The Well Communities
Working with people who have become addicted to drugs or alcohol to manage past trauma. Helping them find acceptance and freedom from themselves.
Victim Support
Group development and facilitation – Working on Turning the Spotlight - this focused on reducing domestic violence and helping individuals and couples understand their behaviours, emotions and communication styles, building stronger relationships and awareness of how their actions can impact their families.
Mind
Group development:
- Facilitation and offering one-to-one support for individuals living with
schizophrenia, helping them to express how it impacts their lives and
working with them to find ways of managing their emotions and reactions to
hearing voices. - Food and Mood – created a bespoke course delivering a 12-week programme helping individuals understand the impacts of their association with food and how this can impact their mental health.
Samaritans
- Listener and lead trainer:
- listening to those needing support during hard times in their lives. This included callers of all ages and those who were actively suicidal
- Training new volunteers to become Samaritans and supporting colleagues
