About me

It can be hard to seek support when life has placed obstacles in your way. To ease this, I can offer you the choice of Counselling at a venue, a house-visit, telephone or walking Counselling which enhances well being by being outside amongst nature.

To support you, I use Integrative Counselling. Drawing on a strength-based Client Centred Approach. Your Counselling is uniquely tailored to you, your needs and experiences.

My personal experiences have enhanced my empathetic, non-judgemental nature and my ability to relate and empower others as I have navigated many obstacles myself. Due to my own challenges I understand the importance of offloading in a confidential, non judgemental space where you are heard and supported to move forward. I would like to offer this support to others.

As well as Counselling I currently work on a Mental Health Team in the charity sector funded by The NHS. I draw on my training and knowledge from this position to provide deeper understanding and support in Counselling. Bridging the gap by working across the private, statutory and charity sectors provides me with a broad range of connections within local support and wellbeing services. I use signposting in sessions to provide information on accessing services for further / wrap around support.

Working across sectors also provides me with regular training opportunities. This ensures I am working ethically and ensures my training remains contemporary and relevant.

I have over a year and a half work experience of counselling within The YMCA, an organisation supporting people who are at risk of / experiencing homelessness or substance/alcohol misuse. This offer was extended to those who are living with or affected by others who are experiencing substance / alcohol misuse and homelessness. I also facilitated an addiction group.

I have 3 years experience of working with families and children. Providing a range of support and signposting which was tailored to individual challenges for adults and their families.

I have previously counselled within a GP practice, supporting clients who have experienced Inner Conflict, Stress, Trauma, Abuse, Psychosis, Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, Grief, Loss, Relationship Breakdown, Employment Difficulties, Diagnosis / Health Concerns for themselves or others and people who are feeling Overwhelmed or Burnt-out as a result of an accumulation of things impacting upon their life.

I have a current DBS for working with Adults and Children. Please take a look at my qualifications and training information. By continuously updating my training I am able to offer best practice and remain contemporary.

I am available at Drakes at Louth Golf Club, Magna Vitae's, The Meridian Centre in Louth and The Station or The Coastal Centre Mablethorpe.

Please feel free to contact me for an informal discussion. Jo-anne.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
