About me
I have availability after school and in the evenings, these spaces are limited . Please get in touch for further details.
I understand that life can be challenging at times, and it's not always easy to navigate through difficult situations alone. If you're struggling to make sense of what's going on for you right now, please know that you're not alone. Counselling can offer you a safe and supportive space to explore your thoughts and feelings and help you work through those tough times. I work with adults, children and young people, using a variety of strategies and tools that can support you in your counselling journey. Please feel free to take a look at my website to find out more or send me a message for further information.
Hi, My name is Carolyn! I am a qualified counsellor and Individual Member of the BACP based in Wellington, Somerset.
I hold a Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy; I work as an integrative counsellor, which means I take elements of various therapies and tailor an approach for each individual. I believe that everyone comes with a different story, so one style of therapy does not fit all. I have experience working with children, adults and young people and approach each individual's needs with care and compassion.
I use many methods depending on the person, including walking and talking therapy, sand tray therapy, actively listening and offering unconditional positive regard and empathy at all times. There is no judgment in my therapy room; it's about feeling safe and comfortable enough to share and engage in the therapeutic process.
Engaging in your first counselling session can feel overwhelming and daunting; I can assure you this is a perfectly natural response. My role is to ensure you feel safe and comfortable whilst sharing your difficulties.
I have experience working with Domestic Violence, Trauma and Neurodiversity, to name a few. I have completed further training in these fields and hold a level 4 SEN diploma, ACES, Safeguarding and Prevention. I also hold a full and up-to-date DBS (Enhanced).
I have worked within local schools and set up wellbeing hubs alongside working with small groups of children and young people to support mental health and emotional regulation.
As a mother of neurodiverse children, I offer a personal understanding and experience when supporting neurodiverse families.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society
This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations.
In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
