About me

Hello and a warm welcome to my website. I'm Tricia and I'm an Integrative Counsellor with a degree in Applied Psychology. I work with individuals who are struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, grief and relationship issues. I also work with clients who want to process the impact of past trauma.

I believe that in order to fully heal ourselves, and our relationships, we need to explore the root of our issues, not with judgement but with compassion and understanding. I listen with empathy, respect and care. I find that being present with my clients, fully accepting them as they are, supports their healing process and helps them move forward with their lives in a stronger and more positive way. I help clients to develop self-compassion, encouraging them to gently explore how they see themselves and how they talk to themselves. Instead of asking "what's wrong with me?" How about asking "what has happened to me to make me this way?"

I work in person with clients in Godalming, Surrey  (https://surreyholistic.com/)  and I also work online.

Get in contact if you want to know more. I offer a free 15-minute consultation, online or on the phone, where we can have a brief discussion and see if we would like to work together.

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING

I help clients to:

  • Understand the root of their anxiety
  • Start the process of healing the past
  • Find the courage to be true to themselves
  • Process difficult emotions
  • Improve boundary setting
  • Manage fear of abandonment
  • Develop a secure attachment style
  • Improve self-esteem
  • Develop self-compassion
  • Remember their strengths
  • Regain balance

You may be struggling because of unresolved past emotional wounds.  When we go through difficult periods in life, whether this is during childhood, or as adults, we end up carrying a load of emotional baggage, this can get heavier over time and it can impact our confidence and our over all wellbeing. Perhaps you are holding on to anger and resentment and it's impacting you and your health. You may be going through a period of grief and loss and you are struggling to manage your emotions, or life's challenges have knocked you down so many times that you are now struggling to manage.

I support clients in their healing process by encouraging them to apply self-compassion. Most of us find being kind and compassionate with others so much easier than being kind to ourselves. We can be our worst critic, using harsh language and being cruel to ourselves. This way of being is only keeping us in emotional pain. By being present with my clients, in a fully accepting and non-judgemental way, I create a space where clients feel emotionally safe. This feeling of safety gives them the courage to be open up and be vulnerable. Only when this happens can the person start the process of becoming whole again, which is the true meaning of healing.

COUPLE COUNSELLING

Relationships and the need for connection are fundamental to our wellbeing. I can help you make sense of the difficulties you are experiencing. I offer a safe, non-judgemental space to explore and empower you to make changes. I have been described as having a warm and compassionate approach.

Are you and your partner having problems around communication? Perhaps you don't feel heard or understood. Are trust issues getting in the way of your relationship?

By listening to both partners, impartially and objectively, I help couples to:

  • Reconnect emotionally
  • Learn how to communicate more effectively
  • Explore past and current underlying issues
  • Explore issues around intimacy
  • Look at the bigger picture and realise what’s really  important
  • Learn about the different ‘Love Languages’
  • Explore Attachment Styles
  • Deal with post infidelity issues
  • Believe change is possible
  • Manage conflict in a kinder and more empathetic way
  • Learn about the different ‘Love Languages’
  • Work through unhealthy behaviour patterns
  • Feel safe enough to express one’s needs in the relationship
  • Manage separation/divorce, if required

How can Couples Therapy help? Couples therapy helps partners to reconnect emotionally and create a happier and healthier relationship. Therapy offers a safe space where couples can learn to improve their communication, enhance understanding of each other's needs and learn how to resolve conflict in a kinder and more effective way. By working through problems in therapy, couples can start to rebuild trust and strengthen emotional bonds. The therapist isn't there to take sides or place blame, instead, they help couples to reconnect, by encouraging both sides to truly listen to the other person. Couples therapy can also help to gain a better understanding of negative patterns within the relationship. The therapist can provide new tools, ideas and perspectives to help the couple heal and move forward.

I help couples who believe that change is possible. Working on our relationships is not easy, it requires hard work, intention and perseverance.

I offer a safe space for individuals and couples to bring whatever issues they want to work through.  I have been described as having a warm and compassionate approach. I will not judge anything that is shared with me the sessions.

I offer a free 15-minute online video consultation for a brief discussion about what you would like support with and to answer any questions you might have. Beginning counselling can feel like a big step and I appreciate it is important for you to feel as comfortable about the process as possible.
