About me
I work from a psychodynamic perspective, focusing on the influence of unconscious thoughts, early experiences, and the ongoing conflict between biological drives and societal expectations. My approach helps clients explore and understand their emotions and unconscious patterns of behaviour. By talking through these emotions and experiences, clients gain deeper insights into their feelings, behaviours, and relationships, adopting lasting personal growth and healing.
I am an Accredited MBACP, an experienced and professional counsellor/psychotherapist working in both Exeter and Bristol. I offer one-to-one psychotherapy and couple relationship counselling in a private and confidential setting.
My Qualifications
I hold a Master’s degree (MSc) in Psychological Therapies: Practice and Research, with a focus on Psychodynamic/Psychoanalytic therapy from the University of Exeter, where I also earned a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. Additionally, I have a Diploma in Counselling from Exeter College and over 8 years of experience as a therapist. I have also trained at Tavistock Relationships, London, in Couple Work counselling and psychotherapy.
Experience
With over 8 years of experience, I have worked in various settings, including private practice, independent and charitable organisations, and the NHS. My experience encompasses working with adults, couples, and young people in different therapeutic capacities. I have also served as a counsellor, psychotherapist, and assessor, supporting clients through complex emotional challenges and life transitions.
Areas of Expertise
My expertise include working with:
Intercultural relationships and marriages
International students
Individuals from multicultural backgrounds
Refugees/immigrants
Domestic violence and abuse
How I Can Help
In both individual and relationship therapy, my role is to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where you can openly discuss what’s on your mind. I aim to help you communicate more effectively and guide you toward reaching your own conclusions about the way forward.
As a therapist, I am open, down-to-earth, and warm, and I strive to make you feel comfortable from our very first meeting, so you can feel free to bring any concerns to the session. I am passionate about working with individuals and couples to help them navigate their relationships, overcome difficulties, and find the growth they seek.
Ethical Practice
I am committed to working ethically and safely within the frameworks of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and the British Psychotherapy Foundation (BPF).
Professional Background
Before embarking on my counselling career, I worked in business and trading, which provided me with valuable insights into leadership and personal development. This background has been instrumental in my ability to understand clients from various professional and personal contexts.
Continued Professional Development
I believe that ongoing learning and personal development are essential in the field of therapy. I attend regular Continuous Professional Development (CPD) trainings, receive clinical supervision, and engage in weekly personal therapy to enhance my practice.
My CPD includes specialised training in:
Couple Work Therapy (Tavistock Relationships)
Psychodynamic/Psychoanalytic Therapy (University of Exeter)
Eating Disorders
Mood Disorders
Domestic Violence and Abuse
Sleep Therapy
Trauma / PTSD

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
