About me

It can be hard to seek support when life has placed obstacles in your way. To ease this, I can offer you the choice of either in-house, telephone or walking counselling. Walking counselling is enhanced by being outside amongst nature either along the coast or in woodland.  I am an Integrative Counsellor using a strength-based Person Centred Approach as a foundation. Every session will be uniquely tailored to you.

My personal experiences have enhanced my empathetic, non-judgemental nature and my ability to relate and empower others as I have navigated and overcome many obstacles myself. This is why I would like to offer confidential support to others.

Alongside private counselling, I counsel  people at an organisation supporting people who are at risk of / experiencing homelessness or substance/alcohol misuse. This offer is extended to those who are living with or affected by others who are experiencing substance / alcohol misuse and homelessness. I also facilitate an addiction group.

I have 3 years experience of working with families and children. Providing a range of support tailored to each families challenges. I have also taken part in vast additional training through Lincolnshire County Council and other training providers. Please see my training list.

Previous to this, I was counselling within a GP practice, supporting clients who have experienced Inner Conflict, Stress, Trauma, Abuse, Psychosis, Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, Grief, Loss, Relationship Breakdown, Employment Difficulties, Diagnosis / Health Concerns for themselves or others and people who are feeling Overwhelmed or Burnt-out as a result of an accumulation of things impacting upon their life.

Please take a look at my qualifications and training information. By continuously updating my training I am able to offer best practice and remain contemporary.

I am available at Saltfleet, The Priory Hotel or The Meridian Centre in Louth, The Coastal Centre, Mablethorpe and The Eco Centre, Skegness or Skegness Pool and Fitness Suite in Skegness. I offer a choice of indoors, walking or telephone counselling.

Please feel free to contact me for an informal discussion. Jo-anne.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
