About me

What I offer?

I can offer you a kind, safe and supportive space where we can explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and help you to feel confident in your ability to navigate life's challenges.

I work in an Integrative way which means I use a range of therapeutic approaches, depending on the individual needs of the client. My counselling style is person centred and relational as I believe the client can find their own solutions, at their own pace, when the therapeutic conditions for change are in place.

Finding the right counsellor is important therefore I offer a free 15 minute  introduction call via zoom/telephone. This introduction provides you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about me or about how we could work together.

What to expect from your first session?

After this introduction call, and if you feel comfortable to move forward then we will agree a regular time and day to meet, this is usually weekly.

During our first full session, it is helpful to know what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to achieve so we can work together to help you achieve your goals.

The number of sessions you attend is a personal choice and one we can review regularly,  some people will attend just a few times others may choose longer. I offer both long and short-term counselling to reflect your choice.

Where I am based?

I am currently seeing clients face to face in my practice in Minsterworth on the outskirts of Gloucester as well as on Zoom, I'm fairly flexible so will do my best to fit in with you.

My room is situated very close to the bus stop and I also have plenty of free parking.

It can take courage to come and talk about the difficulties you are experiencing, and I appreciate that taking the first steps towards counselling can be a challenge, but whatever it is that brings you here I want you to know that you do not have to do it on your own.

Best wishes, Sarah

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
