About me

Life can sometimes be overwhelming and isolating, but you don’t have to face it alone. I work with clients who are looking for warm and collaborative therapy, for practical tools and deeper reflection. I offer a space to feel genuinely supported, while working towards meaningful change.

At the heart of therapy is the power of a genuine human connection. New perspectives and awareness are developed through established techniques, focused by the intuitive understanding that emerges when two people truly connect. In a good therapeutic relationship, you’ll feel understood and encouraged. A place to allow and follow what is meaningful, without expectation or judgement.

I work with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including:

  • Emotional wellbeing: Managing anxiety, insecurity, overwhelm, and burnout.
  • Mental health: Addressing depression, stress, ADHD, addiction, self-criticism, and enhancing self-care.
  • Identity and confidence: Low self-esteem, and overcoming limiting beliefs.
  • Relationships: Improving communication, intimacy, and handling family issues.
  • Trauma and loss: Navigating bereavement, trauma, chronic illness, and life transitions.

My approach is integrative, reflecting our individuality, complexity and diversity. I’ll try to meet you where you are, emotionally and mentally, and will draw from a range of complementary therapeutic approaches.

  • Self-compassion and care: Using Person-Centred Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), we might explore how to cultivate kindness, openness, and understanding.
  • Your mind-body connection: Gestalt Therapy may help us explore the interplay between your thoughts and emotions, fostering greater self-awareness and presence.
  • Exploring life’s meaning: With Existential Therapy, we could explore questions of purpose, freedom, and identity, helping to release resistance.
  • Building resilience: Internal Family Systems (IFS) might allow us to work on integrating your different parts, past suppressing or clinging to them, towards more balance, trust and peace.
  • Practical tools: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) could offer strategies to manage stress, shift unhelpful patterns, and improve relationships.

You'll set goals and I’ll listen, before asking questions, offering alternative perspectives and giving constructive challenge. I’ll help to guide your reflection and expression, to explore and articulate meaning. My practice is shaped by years of working closely with people, and guided by values of openness, care, relationship, acceptance, and empowerment. I offer care and curiosity to help you attend to what is in your way.

Training, qualifications & experience

Client Experiences:

  • Martin is kind and patient. We were able to unpick issues I had buried in my childhood and heal with the present day. I've come away able to communicate how I'm feeling to others more kindly.” – G
  • “The work Martin and I did together was life-changing. Everyone around me noticed the difference between where I started and where I am now. He provides a very safe, empathetic space, asks thoughtful questions, and offers validation. I appreciated that he brings his own personality and subjectivity to our sessions.” – J
  • “Martin is really kind, thoughtful, and patient. He allowed enough time to build trust before jumping into anything heavy, which has helped me process what’s happening now as well as past issues.” – C
  • “I've dabbled in therapy over the years with limited success but having started working with Martin, I'm finding it hugely fascinating and illuminating. Martin's approach is calm, considerate, and patient.” – J
  • “Martin has been an incredible support during a challenging time in my life where I've felt everything crumble around me. His compassionate and understanding nature made me feel comfortable and safe sharing my thoughts and feelings, whatever they may be. His guidance and insights have been invaluable, helping me to navigate difficult emotions and develop coping strategies. I'd highly recommend Martin to anyone seeking a therapist who is both skilled and empathetic.” – G
