About me
You have probably been thinking about this for a while. Something is not shifting. It might be anxiety that won't settle, patterns in relationships you can see but can't change, a nagging sense of not being quite enough, or a feeling of being stuck between what you understand and what you can actually do.
You might have tried to work it out on your own. You might be coming back to therapy after a break, or trying it for the first time. Whatever it is, you don't have to have it figured out before we speak. That's what the work is for.
I'm Martin. I work with adults who are thoughtful about themselves but sometimes find that thinking isn't quite enough. People who are hard on themselves and generous with others. People navigating anxiety, low self-worth, difficult relationships, ADHD, or just a sense that something important is out of reach.
Before training as a therapist, I ran my own recruitment business for many years, working with people through significant professional and personal decisions. That experience - and what it taught me about trust, responsibility, and what gets in the way of people knowing what they want - shapes how I listen.
How I work
My approach is integrative and relational. That means I draw on ideas from Person-Centred therapy, ACT, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gestalt, and existential and mindfulness-based traditions. In practice it means I follow what matters to you, rather than applying a fixed method.
Much of the work comes down to this: most of us have a relationship with ourselves, and it can become strained. Thinking can take over, feeling can be absent or overwhelming, and a sense of knowing what to do can go quiet. The aim is not to resolve this from the outside, but to help you find a different relationship to what is happening inside.
Sessions are collaborative. I ask questions, reflect what I hear, sometimes push back gently. Clients often say they leave with something concrete to sit with, something they hadn't quite seen before.
I show up as myself, not just your therapist. Not a performance of warmth, but genuine presence with what's here.
What we might work on
- Anxiety and overthinking — including the kind that makes sense but won't stop.
- Self-criticism and low self-worth — learning to meet yourself with something closer to care.
- Relationship difficulties — patterns in how you connect, need, pull back, or push away.
- ADHD and neurodiversity — understanding yourself, not just managing symptoms.
- Trauma, grief, and loss — including the complicated kind.
- Depression, burnout, and feeling stuck — rebuilding energy and direction.
- Life transitions and identity — when something important is shifting and you're not sure where to stand.
What it is like to work together
We start by building enough safety that the real work can happen. That takes whatever time it takes, and there is no rush. I am curious rather than directive. I stay close to what you bring, without taking it over. If something seems to be getting in the way, I will say so, but gently.
One thing clients often notice is that sessions don't feel like performance. You don't have to arrive with a topic prepared. You can arrive as you are, and we find what needs attention from there. Over time, the aim is not just to feel better, but to develop a different relationship with yourself: one where you can meet what is difficult without fighting it, and follow what is true without having to force it.

"Martin is kind, thoughtful, and patient. He gave me space to build trust before we tackled difficult issues, which meant I could process both past and present." C
"Martin is a phenomenal space holder. His presence and ability to witness is one of the deepest and most attuned that I have encountered." I
"A very warm, empathetic and insightful person, with the right amount of introspective challenge. I would sincerely recommend Martin." D
"There's something about Martin's sessions that make you lift the heaviest, roughest parts of you, hold them and weigh them, but leave feeling like they're lighter, softer and put away somewhere more manageable." T
If this resonates, a short intro call may be the best next step. It's free, with no commitment or obligation.
