About me

Hello,

A warm welcome and thank you for coming to have a look at my page.

My name is Lucy, I am a fully qualified psychotherapist (BACP Accredited MSc) who specialises in trauma. Trauma can be any lasting impact or distress after any event/experience or series of events/experiences, it is personal and relative to you. Although this is my specialism I can work with any issue, I just have a trauma-informed base to keep my client safe. Often the question we ask ourselves is 'What's wrong with me?' rather than 'What happened to me?'. It can help to approach ourselves curiously and compassionately to break patterns of thought and build a healthy life for ourselves in the present. It is amazing to help clients reach their potential to reconnect with themselves, the world, and others in the way they want to.

I work in a relational and intentional way - tailoring sessions to meet your individual presentations, needs and goals in the short and long term. My expertise draws from a wide range of knowledge, experience, theories and practices. I am able to draw on various modalities and ways of working to find something that feels right for you and offers you the best way forward, whilst supporting and empowering you as the expert on yourself and your experience. It is really important that our work is collaborative, and comfortable and that you always feel like you are getting the best out of our sessions.

At the base of all my work with you is the creation of a safe, kind, unconditionally accepting and compassionate relationship. Everybody is welcome, no problem is too big or too small. I have 8 years of experience working one to one with children, young people and adults.

I can work with or without diagnoses and have worked with many different presentations, like anxiety and low mood, ranging from working with experiences of DID, CPTSD and much more. Beginning therapy can feel confusing and frightening which is why I offer an initial chat to think about how we might begin. I have a gentle approach and my ultimate goal is to provide what you need to safely move forward in the way you want to.

I am currently offering online sessions for adults and young people 16 and upwards. I am able to work with children 5 years and over, in person based in a therapeutic space in Cheadle. I am also able to offer consultation sessions for parents looking for therapeutic advice on children struggling with their mental health in any way.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch, I am happy to offer a free 10-30 minute initial chat where we can get to know each other, I can answer any questions and help with any worries or concerns about beginning therapy. Please email me to arrange a time to call so I can dedicate prepared and private time to you. I understand it can be hard to talk on the phone so also feel free to just write me an email instead of arranging a call, to tell me as much as you feel comfortable with.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
