About me

If you are seeking therapy and connection with someone you can build a relationship with and who 'gets' you, please contact me as I currently have availability for busy people who need to manage their time. I am a fully qualified integrative therapist and have had many life experiences and careers that now inform my work as a MBACP and NCS accredited psychotherapist. Using a combination of Humanistic, CBT, Psychodynamic, Existential, Systemic and Gestalt methods, this now blends with my innate sense of compassion, warmth, pro-activity and desire for people to reach their full potential – getting more out of their lives, careers and relationships than they previously knew how to or expected.

The seeds of our current distress, anxiety or depression are often partially sown by our initial families and environments, including unhelpful, and often sabotaging ways of thinking and behaving that have been passed down by our ancestors. But we also live in a complex and unpredictable society that bombards us with images of the perfect house, relationship, career and life we 'should' have, rather than the one that feeds our souls. Therefore, my recent Masters Degree in Psychotherapy (complete Jan 24), Postgraduate Diploma in ‘Contemporary Identities’ from Bristol University, 1st class (Hons) degree in ‘Social Science’ and DipHE in 'Social Work' also inform my therapy approach because we cannot help but be influenced and altered by our environments.

If you need to 'pause' for a while, and examine who you seem to have become in 2024, please contact me. Week time sessions are £60 with reduced fees of £50 for all military/support personnel, past and present, and their family members. Saturday morning sessions are £70 for one hour, and for deeper work, £100 for one hour 30 minutes in Plymouth City Centre.

My services

I integrate my personal value-base with coaching, counselling and psychotherapy techniques; not using each method in isolation from the other, but combining them with your life experiences, what you wish to explore in therapy, and who you are and what you want to achieve. Safety, trust and genuine regard are paramount for a successful client/therapist relationship; therefore, we can actively work together in a warm, non-judgemental but gently challenging way, to enlighten you, opening up perceptions to seek a richer outlook, and to deepen a comprehension of your life options that you are not yet fully aware of.

I work exclusively with adults and I also have a particular interest in midlife transitions/crisis, social class challenges, imposter syndrome, ADHD challenges, personal development, career evaluation, challenges from Irish ancestry and older adult enquiry.  Additionally, enquiries from military personnel (current and former) and their family members are also particularly welcome.

You can explore behaviours, feelings, and thoughts, to perhaps reach hidden or under-developed aspects of your personality that could enrich your next path. Even in mid-to-later life, you can still explore and reach for change or opportunities. So...if you are ready, or might be thinking about starting ‘The Work’ on yourself, please contact me for an initial free 30 minute discussion.

My location - On the waterfront nearby The Hoe and The Barbican, Plymouth. Saturday Clinic possibly opening shortly in the city.

Recent feedback - "Highly recommended. After working through some painful experiences, I now feel less haunted by them and have a sense of control over my life that I did not have before. I feel more in charge of me!" MB

"I now feel as though I am able to cope with the challenges of life. I am now more fulfilled and at ease with myself. Once again thank you" BR

"I have spent the last year in what you always call 'the work' and feel like a new woman! I feel better about myself but also no longer blame myself for some of the things I have experienced in my life" JT

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
