About me

About my service

Welcome to my page. It can sometimes seem worrying  to share your deepest, most personal thoughts and feelings. I'm here to offer a warm, welcoming and confidential therapeutic space where you will have your time to talk and where hopefully we can build a trusting therapeutic relationship, one in which you can feel comfortable to share your worries and thoughts. Every client and every therapeutic process is different and I will always value you as a unique individual, with the utmost respect for the journey you have navigated and the place you find yourself in now. I will welcome and support you in whatever you bring to therapy, listening to you and working with you to explore, reflect on and regain insight into yourself, your situation, your past and how that has brought you to who you are today.

How can counselling help?

Counselling can make a profound impact on a person’s life. You will be navigated through difficult life situations and you will be provided with tools and strategies to help manage mental health issues such as anxiety and depression or if you are generally feeling sad and low to empower you to lead a fulfilling and healthy life.
We are all individual and unique and although I will offer advice and intervention where needed ultimately you are your own expert in yourself and your own life. Counselling can be a fascinating process of self-discovery, helping you to understand how you became the person you are and to think about how you might want to move forward as you develop greater self-awareness and self-acceptance.

My experience

I have supported clients from a range of ages and backgrounds, working with issues including anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem, anger, loneliness, relationships, domestic / sexual abuse, loss and trauma.
For me, it is the greatest privilege to support someone through their darkest moments and to witness the personal growth and development that therapy can bring.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Session format
Our sessions can be on the telephone, online or face to face. Whichever you feel most comfortable with.

Before our first session I offer a 20 minute free chat to find out a little about each other. As with all relationships it is important that we feel comfortable in each others company and that we can  work  together. Please feel free to ask any questions at this time.

If you would like to proceed our following sessions will be 50 minutes long usually on a weekly or fortnightly basis. We will discuss whatever you would like to bring. You will lead the sessions and you won't be pressured into talking about anything you don't want to. I will help you to find the solution best for you.
