About me

I am licensed in the UK with 6 years of clinical work experience. I have been in the counselling industry since 2004 when I started my training at United Churches Healing Ministry in Huddersfield, England. I did my clinical practice at The Magdalene Project in Bacup, Lancashire and Maundy Relief Counselling Service in Accrington.

After qualifying as a counsellor I stayed on with both services as a core counsellor until 2013. I then took some time out to write and publish four books on addiction whilst acting as a voluntary admin for the Facebook group Partners of Alcoholics.

I have an integrative approach to my counselling practice. I am person centred and I use psychodynamic insight and  Transactional Analysis. I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you.

Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Advanced Diploma in Counselling Level 4 (United Churches, Healing Ministry, Huddersfield) Sep 2007 - Jun 2009
  • PhD Honoris Causa Addiction Counselling (American Trinity University California) Jan 2012

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
