About me

I am an experienced, integrative trained, Psychologist, Counsellor and Psychotherapist with a strong Psychodynamic focus.  Registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a member of the Gendered Intelligence network of inclusive Counsellors and Therapists.

Psychodynamic counselling or psychotherapy is effective in allowing you to make positive changes to your life, so you can deal with any overwhelming issues that are causing you emotional pain, unhappiness, or stress in the present. Perhaps you're feeling trapped or blocked by the past, feeling stuck in survival mode with old patterns that keep resurfacing. Maybe you are recently grieving from a loss of some kind or can’t make sense of relationships, or emotions.  You might feel a general flatness  or overwhelmed with feelings of depression, and anxiety. I provide a non-judgemental, inclusive space to explore these difficult parts, thoughts, and feelings to gain greater understanding.

I know how hard it can be to reach out to take the first step when you need support and know changes need to be made. I can offer you a free confidential 15-minute telephone or online initial assessment so that we can discuss your needs. I will explain how I work and what you can expect from counselling. and I can answer any questions you may have.

Training, qualifications & experience

My main focus is in the Psychodynamic field but as an Integrative trained therapist I will use a wide range of different modalities at any time dependant on the clients needs.  I am trauma informed and take care to keep the client's safety at the centre of all work.

My approach combines using different techniques associated with Psychodynamic theories, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Transactional Analysis,  Internal Family Systems and The Rewind Technique for trauma and PTS/PTSD, in an empathic way to support each client in what is best for them.

I am a qualified Yoga teacher and Yoga therapist specialising in Trauma.   I often use elements of Neuroscience and Somatic work too, to help with understanding that the mind and body are connected.

I have focused my training in the fields of Trauma, Sex, Gender and Relationship diversity and Neurodiversity and have extensive experience working in the areas of suicide, self harm, chronic pain and anxiety.

I also have experience working with a wide range of issues including low self-esteem, grief and loss, relationship difficulties and depression.

I believe that counselling and Psychotherapy should be completely non-discriminatory and collaborative and I work with a LGBTQ+ and neurodiverse affirmative approach.

We can explore difficult issues and gain more insight into understanding you and your problems whilst finding solutions that are right for you. We can work through historical or recent trauma's to find different perspectives, more clarity, greater balance, and connection to yourself and others so you can lead a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
