About me

Hello i'm Sarah a fully qualified counsellor. Let's be honest being human can be feel both messy and confusing for so many different reasons.

You will find me to be warm, authentic and down to earth. I work with clients from all walks of life. I offer therapy for a broad range of issues including  anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties and trauma. The menopause can be an emotionally turbulent time often coinciding with challenging life evens such as ageing parent, children leaving home or still depending on you, mile stone birthdays, career pressures to name but a few examples. Research has shown unresolved childhood issues can exacerbate menopause symptoms.

I offer a safe, calm, consistent space that is inclusive to you. I believe everyone deserves to be heard, valued and understood. I want to work with you to understand your difficulties and emotions to support you towards a sense of clarity and understanding.

Being an integrative counsellor means I draw on different theories to work in a way that is affective for you as an individual.

Through the relationship I offer, you can better understand your past and present relationships and the unhelpful or destructive patterns impacting your life choices.

I passionately believe that therapy should not be mysterious, but transparent allowing you the confidence to unlock your resources and enhance your capacity for reflection and self-awareness, leading to more rewarding ways of living.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience of working with a wide range of issues. Including but not limited to anxiety, relationship difficulties, depression, low self-esteem, abuse and the menopause.

I hold a BA (Hons) in integrative counselling and am a registered member of the BACP. I draw on different approaches including psychodynamic, humanistic, transactional analysis and CBT. An integrative approach allows me to adapt therapy to your evolving individual needs.  I engage in continual professional development and ongoing clinical supervision to support and enhance my therapeutic approach.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
