About me

Sometimes we find it hard to cope when life hits hard. Sometimes everything seems to be well, and still, we are unhappy. There are times when we feel haunted by our past, and times when we just don’t understand some parts of ourselves - thoughts, feelings, even physical pain. It can all feel like an overwhelming blur.

We are also going through increasing global uncertainty: Covid, the current political and financial situation, wars and climate change are only a few of the unsettling topic we are exposed to 24/7 - we are facing a previously unimaginable amount of collective stress, anxiety and grief. As we see the worlds around us in turmoil, so we feel inside - it can be very confusing, and also awaken feelings and memories we may not understand, and find overwhelming.

It is hard to face these struggles: perhaps we have never been taught that it is possible to take care of our inner world. We can learn: therapy is a journey of self-discovery and exploration; by being curious together, we can make sense of difficult thoughts, feelings, experiences and navigate life with more awareness.

My practice comes from 15 years’ experience in the field of mental health, both in the public and the private sector, in the UK and in Italy. As a Clinical Psychologist, I integrate different approaches to understand your problems in the context of your unique experience as a human being - one-size-fits-all suits no one, so every intervention is tailored on the person in front of me.

Among other problems, I can help when you are struggling with any of the following:

  • Sadness and mood swings
  • Difficulty with relationships and/or being with others
  • Trauma
  • Family issues
  • Issues connecting and dealing with your past, getting caught up into traumatic memories
  • Anger
  • Anxiety, worry, fear of losing control, difficulty dealing with uncertainty
  • Not having pleasure in things
  • Self-accusation and self-blame, feelings of shame and guilt
  • Being in physical pain or exhausted without knowing why
  • Not seeing a point in life
  • Feeling lost, with no direction
  • Unpleasant and disturbing thoughts that you can’t get rid of
  • Feeling unhappy with your appearance
  • Preoccupation around eating and eating disorders
  • Preoccupation around money

What to expect when you get in touch

We can start with a 20-minute free informal phone call, so you can ask me any questions, and see how we could work together.

If you decide to continue our work together, we will arrange a consultation. This will take one or two sessions, depending on the nature of your needs and your situation, and it will give us a chance to understand what we want to work on, and make a plan. We can decide to focus on a specific issue and agree on a set number of sessions, or we can consider therapy as an open-ended, deeper process, with an explorative focus.

I offer therapy in English and Italian.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
