About me

My aim as your therapist is to make you feel at ease and comfortable in your sessions, ensuring that you have the space to speak freely and without judgement about whatever is going on for you. As an integrative counsellor, I draw upon many strands of psychotherapy, meaning that I can tailor our work to best suit you and your needs. I think of myself as a relational counsellor, placing the most importance on our therapeutic relationship and how we work together. Sometimes life can feel confusing, daunting and overwhelming, and my aim as your counsellor is to offer you the space to slow down, breathe, and support you to make sense of your world and your experiences. I take a holistic approach to my practice, meaning that I want to learn about you as a whole person, and not just focus on the issues that have brought you to therapy. My hope is to create a safe space for you to discover more about yourself and what has lead you to seek therapy, and support you to go forward in life with a more congruent sense of yourself and deeper understanding of your way of being. I look forward to meeting you soon!

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

Prior to our first session I will offer you an introductory 15 minute phone call or zoom session to enable you to get to know me and my style of working. I will always recommend you take a couple of days to digest this phone call and decide if I am the right therapist for you. If we decide that we would like to work together, we will then schedule our first session, which will likely become our regular weekly session time.

I currently only offer sessions on Zoom, however this is subject to change within the next few months. Evening appointments will be available in September 2024.

Further information

During our first official session together I will encourage you to explore what has brought you therapy in more detail and what you hope to achieve in our sessions. I will usually ask you some questions about yourself, your history and your relationships to get a clearer view of you as a whole person. I will also encourage you to ask me any questions you may have about the therapeutic process to foster an honest and open atmosphere as we begin our therapeutic relationship.
