About me

I am an experienced and compassionate Chartered Clinical Psychologist based in Derbyshire.

As a Clinical Psychologist, I am educated to doctorate level and have considerable pre and post qualification experience of working with people with difficulties relating to their emotional and mental health. In total, I have over 19 years experience of supporting individuals to achieve their goals.

It is important for me to offer a non-judgmental way of working with clients and I endeavor to offer a safe space in therapy in which all topics and emotions are welcome.

I am able to offer a variety of different psychological approaches to provide an individually tailored approach to therapy. I offer various therapies includng Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, CBT; Dialectical Behavior Therapy, DBT skills , Schema Focused Therapy, Compassion Therapy, Mindfulness, EMDR. I offer both short and long-term therapy.

I have a keen interest in working with those who have experienced traumatic life events (e.g. abuse, bereavement & loss, health related issues). I often work with people who are experiencing relationship problems (including issues relating to identity, conflict and sexual difficulties), emotional difficulties and mood problems (such as anxiety, depression and issues relating to anger) and those who have developed problematic coping patterns (such as self-harming, addictive behaviours eg drugs / alcohol / sexual behaviours / pornography / eating / gambling)

I offer therapy for those (individuals, couples, poly relationships) experiencing sexual concerns (e.g. intimacy issues, problems with arousal, erectile problems, orgasm difficulties, pain, addictive issues, problems following trauma) and those wanting to explore their sexual identity / interests within therapy. I am a member of COSRT (the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists).

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked with clients of all ages and am experienced in supporting people with mild to severe difficulties. I work with people at an "early intervention"stage and also with those who have chronic / acute problems.

Prior to working independently, I specialised in working with those with difficulties relating to trauma (for example, sexual abuse, neglect, emotional / physical abuse and domestic violence), attachment problems (for example those who have received a diagnosis of personality disorder) and those with substance abuse / addiction issues.

I enjoy working collaboratively with clients and appreciate the importance of a sound, therapeutic relationship at the core of all therapy. I have extensive experience working with those with substance misuse / addiction difficulties, those who have experienced multiple / complex trauma and in working with those who self-harm / experience suicidal thoughts and feelings .
