About me

Are you wondering why you feel the way you do? Why you seem to get stuck in the same tricky patterns at work or in relationships? Why you rely on ways of coping that might not be good for you but you fall back on them anyway? Perhaps it's time to take some time out for you, to talk about what's happened to you in your life and to start to take steps to understand yourself and to move forward.

I am an experienced and compassionate Chartered Clinical Psychologist, Sex Therapist and Coach based in Crich, Derbyshire. I offer a confidential service to those wishing to access therapy independently / privately. I offer online therapy (video calls) using Zoom, Whatsapp and VSee.

As a Clinical Psychologist, I am educated to doctorate level and have considerable pre and post qualification experience of working with people with difficulties relating to their emotional and mental health.  I have over 20 years experience of supporting individuals to achieve their goals.

It is important for me to offer a non-judgmental way of working with clients and I endeavor to offer a safe space in therapy in which all topics and emotions are welcome. My clients describe me as easy to talk to and unshockable and I provide effective therapy and coaching in a relaxed environment.

I work with clients with all levels of difficulties and all types of problems. This means that I provide therapy to those who have just begun to experience problems and to those who have had difficulties for many years (and everyone in between).

I specialise in the following areas:

* Issues and difficulties relating to sex / sexuality and sexual identity (including compulsive / addictive sexual behaviours)

* Issues relating to trauma / PTSD / Complex Trauma

* Sexual issues related to trauma

*Issues relating to alcohol and substance misuse

*Issues relating to "personality disorder" diagnosis

I am able to offer a variety of different psychological approaches to provide an individually tailored approach to therapy. I offer various therapies includng Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, CBT; Dialectical Behavior Therapy, DBT skills , Schema Focused Therapy, Compassion Therapy, Mindfulness, EMDR.

I have a keen interest in working with those who have experienced traumatic life events (e.g. abuse, bereavement & loss, health related issues). I ifnd that lots of people enter therapy not recognising that the things that they have lived through have been "traumatic". Lots of people view their experiences as "not as bad as other people's" which results in them feeling confused and ashamed about their emotional responses. Trauma comes in all shapes and forms and is sadly, surprisingly common. By recognising it and using effective therapuetic strategies and a safe therapy relationship it is possible to heal from trauma and to break traumatic patterns which are often passed on through families.

I often work with people who are experiencing relationship problems (including issues relating to identity, conflict and sexual difficulties), emotional difficulties and mood problems (such as anxiety, depression and issues relating to anger) and those who have developed problematic coping patterns (such as self-harming, addictive behaviours eg drugs / alcohol / sexual behaviours / pornography / eating / gambling)

I offer therapy for those (individuals, couples, poly relationships) experiencing sexual concerns (e.g. intimacy issues, problems with arousal, erectile problems, orgasm difficulties, pain, addictive issues, problems following trauma) and those wanting to explore their sexual identity / interests within therapy. I am a member of COSRT (the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists).

Prior to working independently, I specialised in working with those with difficulties relating to trauma (for example, sexual abuse, neglect, emotional / physical abuse and domestic violence), attachment problems (for example those who have received a diagnosis of personality disorder) and those with substance abuse / addiction issues.

I enjoy working collaboratively with clients and appreciate the importance of a sound, therapeutic relationship at the core of all therapy. I have extensive experience working with those with substance misuse / addiction difficulties, those who have experienced multiple / complex trauma and in working with those who self-harm / experience suicidal thoughts and feelings .
