About me
I am a highly trained and experienced, non-judgemental and compassionate Chartered Clinical Psychologist, Sex Therapist and Coach. I offer a confidential service to those wishing to access online therapy (video calls) using Zoom, Whatsapp and VSee.
I specialise in the following areas:
* Issues and difficulties relating to sex / sexuality and sexual identity (including compulsive / addictive sexual behaviours)
* Issues relating to trauma / PTSD / Complex Trauma
* Understanding family dynamics and repeating family patterns (inter-generational trauma)
* Sexual issues related to trauma (including sexual trauma and birth trauma)
*Issues relating to alcohol and substance misuse and other “addictions”
*Issues relating to "personality disorder" diagnosis
* Understanding emotions relating to abortions / terminations
*Working with people who are struggling with shame
As a Clinical Psychologist, I am educated to doctorate level and have considerable pre and post qualification experience of working with people with difficulties relating to their emotional and mental health. I have over 20 years experience of supporting individuals to achieve their goals.
It is important for me to offer a non-judgmental way of working with clients and I endeavor to offer a safe space in therapy in which all topics and emotions are welcome. My clients describe me as easy to talk to and unshockable and I provide effective therapy and coaching in a relaxed environment.
I am able to offer a variety of different psychological approaches to provide an individually tailored approach to therapy. I offer various therapies includng EMDR, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, CBT; Dialectical Behavior Therapy, DBT skills , Schema Focused Therapy, Compassion Therapy, Mindfulness.
I have a keen interest in working with those who have experienced traumatic or difficult life events (e.g. abuse, bereavement & loss, health related issues). Lots of people enter therapy not recognising the damage caused by the things that they have lived through. Lots of people view their experiences as "not as bad as other people's" which results in them feeling confused and ashamed about their emotional responses. Trauma comes in all shapes and forms and is sadly, surprisingly common. By recognising it and using effective therapuetic strategies and a safe therapy relationship it is possible to heal from trauma and to break traumatic patterns which are often passed on through families.
I often work with people who are experiencing relationship problems (including issues relating to identity, conflict and sexual difficulties), emotional difficulties and mood problems (such as anxiety, depression and issues relating to anger) and those who have developed problematic coping patterns (such as self-harming, addictive behaviours eg drugs / alcohol / sexual behaviours / pornography / eating / gambling)
I offer sex therapy for those (individuals, couples, poly relationships) experiencing sexual concerns (e.g. intimacy issues, problems with arousal, erectile problems, orgasm difficulties, pain, addictive issues, problems following trauma) and those wanting to explore their sexual identity / interests within therapy. I am a member of COSRT (the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists).
