About me

My name is Lucy and I am an independent Counsellor based in the Selby area, North Yorkshire. I pride myself on providing a judgement free, safe space to allow you to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.

I am an integrative Counsellor, qualified to Masters level and I specialise in Relationship and Family work. I am a big believer in meeting people where they are presently at and holding a judgement free, safe space for them to explore their thoughts and feelings.  To give someone the space to find out what is going on for them, at their own pace, I believe to be very empowering. I am warm, friendly and empathic and have a real passion for helping people.

I have a real passion for Relationship work, be it with couples or families. I have a particular interest in people’s intergenerational past/childhood and the subconscious effects this can have on an individual’s life and the relationships they form.

I am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and an accredited member of COSRT (College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists).

The best way of contacting me is via email, as I am unable to answer the phone often due to holding client sessions.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have recently qualified with a Masters in Contemporary Relationship Studies. Prior to this, I completed the CPCAB Levels 2 and 3 in Counselling Skills and Studies.

I regularly attend various related CPD courses and I have over 200 hours of experience (as of November 2023). I began my Counselling journey on placement at a local College and I now also work for Relate, which I love.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

COSRT
College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT)

COSRT is the UK’s leading membership organisation for therapists specialising in sexual and relationship issues.

All members must abide by their Code of Ethics and the performance of accredited members is regularly monitored.
