About me

Hi, I am Esther, a mother of two girls and a lover of all things outdoors. I am a BACP registered children and young people’s counsellor. I work in an integrative way (This means I use a variety of approaches - play therapy, CBT, talking therapy, art, etc).

I started off as a youth worker when I was 18. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, but I knew I wanted to help people.

I had little interest in going to university at 18, but after many years in jobs that were just not quite right, I wanted to find my passion and vocation. I went to university later in life to study an undergraduate degree in Psychology. I then realised the human brain was something to behold. Fast forward to now and I found my calling. I want all children and young people to feel heard without expectation or judgment. I have completed an MSc in counselling children and young people and have never looked back. My practice is professional, person-centred, and open to all. If there is something in your life that needs to be heard or if you just can’t quite manage the days, please get in touch for a non-judgmental chat.

Another part of my work is family support. I have worked in this field for many years and I am more than happy to speak with parents who feel they need some support or guidance on how to raise, support, or just be with their child.

In addition to all of the above, I am able to offer training and support to schools on mental health, bereavement, trauma, classroom practice, and behaviour. If you require more information on the services offered, please contact me.

I am a highly experienced and compassionate counsellor dedicated to working with children and young people. I am here to help you navigate your journey towards being your best self and living the life you deserve.

My service offers a comprehensive counselling experience, designed to help clients navigate challenges, build resilience, and achieve personal growth. As a skilled therapist, I can provide individualised support tailored to the specific needs of each client on an on-going basis.

My counselling services provide a safe and nurturing space for children and young people to explore their feelings, develop coping skills, and find their inner strength. I understand the importance of addressing the unique needs of every individual and strive to make a positive impact. I can see clients in a number of locations which can be discussed on booking.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a master's level counsellor working with those aged 5-25. I studied at the University of Northampton.

I studied Psychology at the undergraduate level and received a 2:1

I have a Diploma in youth work which is a role I did for 14 years in and around Peterborough.

I am also a qualified Webster Stratton parenting course provider.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
