About me

I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist and counsellor with experience working with adults who come to me with a range of issues.

These can include anxiety, depression, bereavement, work related issues, relationship breakdowns, neurodiversity challenges, gender and sexual identity, abuse and trauma.

This is not an exhaustive list – it’s just to give you an idea of why working with me may be able to help.

I am both a registered and accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), which means I have met the required standards of the BACP and completed a further rigorous application and assessment process.

It’s important to find a counsellor/therapist who you feel comfortable with. I want to create a safe, confidential space for you to talk, think through and explore your challenges.

I offer both long and short-term therapy, either in person from my clinic in Harpenden, Hertfordshire or online via Zoom.

I am registered with some insurers and Employment Assistance Providers including AXA, Aviva, Vitality Health and Western Provident Association Ltd (WPA). If you’re registered with an alternative provider, please contact me to discuss how we could work together.

First session:

In our first session we will explore your needs, reasons for seeking help and what you hope to gain from counselling. You will also get the chance to ask questions, so you can decide if you are comfortable to continue. If you decide to start counselling we will agree a suitable time and fee for weekly, 50 minute sessions.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained as a psychodynamic psychotherapist at the Manor House Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling (MHCPC). I completed the  Certificate in Counselling Skills and then went on to study for the three year Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling & Therapy.

Alongside my private practice I'm an experienced counselling assessor, working with a Sixth Form College, providing counselling assessments to students.  I also have experience working in a low-cost counselling service and the charity sector providing counselling assessments and also providing both long-term therapy and short-term therapy (8 to 16 sessions), where we may focus on a particular issue someone would like to address and explore.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
