About me
Hi, and thank you for visiting my profile.
Approaching counselling can feel scary and overwhelming, like opening a can of worms. As part of my training, I too had to open that can, with great trepidation. However, I can help you safely pick out a worm at a time, rather than spill them all out in one chaotic, squirming mess. You are in control of your story.
You will find me warm, welcoming, informal, curious, non-judgmental and compassionate. My dog, Ted, can be in the room and also help you to explore and discover with his reassuring presence. I see my job as helping and working with you to "unpack" and explore your past, present and your future. I offer a safe, supportive and confidential environment where my clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts and feelings, and where they can develop the skills and tools they need to thrive. I use honesty, impartiality and empathy as the main backbone of my practice - the core conditions of person-centred theory.
I offer person-centred and canine-assisted therapy in-person or online. I don't judge and I'm honest and empathic. These are the roots from which natural healing and personal growth can begin and continue to flourish.
I have a wealth of lived experiences that have brought me to where I am today, and I am passionate about the empowerment, healing and personal growth that the counselling relationship can bring - both human and canine!
My approach to therapy is firmly rooted in empathy, compassion, honesty and acceptance, combined with a curious mind.

I was part of a military family for nearly 30 years, and had 11 schools before I was 13, at which point I went to boarding school. I have lived in various countries, including Australia, Canada and Northern Ireland during the height of The Troubles, but have always called Exeter home. I am the mother of a teenage girl, and I have previously been married. I volunteer with my dog, Ted, for Pets As Therapy, and am constantly amazed by the power and healing presence of animals.

- Level 4 (Level 5 equiv) Advanced Professional Diploma in Counselling Theory and Therapeutic Practice (Accredited by the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society)
- NCPS Approved training in Online Counselling
- Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills
- Level 2 Introduction to Counselling
- Certificate in Canine-Assisted Therapy

In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

I am an Accredited Registrant of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (MNCPS Accred.). This confirms that I have met the necessary standards to practice as a professional counsellor, and that I adhere to the ethical framework and code of practice of the NCPS. It also means that I am on a register of counsellors and therapists that has been accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
