About me

I am a pluralistic counsellor which means that I believe there is no pre-eminent way of practising therapy. Rather, I am of the opinion that clients benefit most when a variety of therapeutic methods are utilised, depending on where they are currently at in their life journey. This allows for a more responsive and fluid approach and will help me to meet your needs as an individual.

I see every client as a human being, first and foremost. An autonomous person who is simply in need of some support and understanding, so it is therefore extremely important to me that you feel respected, heard, appreciated, and validated throughout the duration of our time together. I maintain that the client-counsellor relationship is key when allowing effective work to take place and for meaningful change to occur, and so it is therefore vital you find a therapist that you can feel comfortable and safe with. This will no doubt help you when it comes to discussing any issues you may be experiencing in the present and enable you to explore new ways of being as the weeks progress.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation session on Zoom so that we can get to know each other, have a chat about what is going on for you at the moment, and present you with adequate time and space to decide if you would like to move forward with our work together. If this is the case, then each subsequent session will take place either online via Zoom, or over the phone, and will last for 50 minutes.

During our first session, I will assess your particular needs and agree upon some therapeutic goals with you, however, these may well be liable to change as your therapy progresses and your personal wants and desires begin to shift. The number of sessions I offer you will depend entirely on your individual requirements, although I am presently open to seeing clients for as long, or as short amount of time, as they need.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified, registered and accredited member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy, so therefore adhere to their Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

My education was based primarily upon learning Existential, Person-Centred, Humanistic, and Psychodynamic theories and techniques, which I will happily explain to you during our consultation if any of these particular modalities are unfamiliar to you.

Furthermore, I have attended hundreds upon hundreds of hours of Continued Professional Development courses over the last 4 years in order to enhance the quality and scope of my professional practise. These include sessions around Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Addiction, Logotherapy, Mindfulness, Attachment-Based Therapy, Trauma Therapy, Psychoanalysis, and Gestalt Therapy.

I hold a BSc (Hons) degree in Psychology and Criminal Behaviour which was awarded to me by the University of Bedfordshire in 2016 and possess an enhanced DBS certificate which is updated annually.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
