About me
I am an experienced psychodynamic psychotherapist providing short and long-term psychotherapy near Bath and in central Bristol. In our weekly meeting we can create a space each week in which to think deeply about your present life, how you have arrived at this moment and how you might move forward.
Some of the area’s that I have addressed:
- Fostering a feeling of greater self confidence in the face of anxiety.
- Reducing the impact of intrusive thoughts, self-limiting behaviours and destructive patterns.
- Improving the quality of relationships in your family, with friends and at work.
- Addressing internal and external fears about yourself and the world we live in.
- Sensitively exploring sexual identity and issues with intimacy.
- Providing time to work through grief, loss and change.
- Gaining a greater sense of identity in the face of long held uncertainties.
- Finding a way past some things that may have happened in our lives.
- Developing an understanding of repetitive patterns.
Some of my previous patients have come to therapy with great clarity as to why they are there others with a much more general sense that something is not right in their lives. Many find that no matter their reasons for starting, focusing on one area of their lives inevitably affects their wider lives. I will work hard with you to ensure we remain focussed whilst at the same time supporting the, at times difficult and hard, work where ever it might go.
I am able to work in person, on the phone and online and charge between £50 and £85. I offer some early morning and evening sessions as well as during the day on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday in Batheaston. I work at Orchard Street therapy rooms in central Bristol on Wednesday.
My consulting rooms on the edge of Bath are step free, wheelchair accessible, and have free parking. I am an active member of Severnside Institute for Psychotherapy and Avon Counselling and Psychotherapy Service. I am a member of the BPC (British Psychoanalytic Council) and follow all ethical guidelines.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained at the Severnside Institute of Psychotherapy and am a member of the British Psychoanalytic Council.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.
BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
