About me

Hi I’m Nikki and I am a qualified counsellor with a BA (honours) in Counselling, and certificates in both Couples counselling and children & young people counselling. I am currently studying a Masters in Contemporary Relationship Studies working with couples and families.  I have recently been diagnosed with ADHD, and this is an area I am passionate about both personally and professionally.

Life is full of ups and downs that can result in feeling stressed, overwhelmed and questioning yourself and the world around you. Therapy can help with various issues including but not limited to feeling alone, lost, worried, sad, angry, or anxious. Communication difficulties, relationship / family issues, and struggling after a traumatic event can all be explored in therapy by talking through what is going on for you, your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Change can be a scary thought, but counselling can be a really helpful process for personal growth, developing boundaries and self-awareness.

I work from a person-centred base which means seeing you as an individual and working with your needs. I use parts from other modalities I have learned along the way to be able to offer an individual and holistic approach to your needs. Everyone is unique and we all work in different ways and that is OK, one size does not fit all. It's about getting to know you and the best way to support you. I work flexibly to suit your needs, whether that's weekly, fortnightly, monthly or ad-hoc sessions.

I am very passionate about counselling and truly believe in the unique connection that counselling offers. The open, non-judgemental environment offers a safe space to talk where you can be really heard and seen. I will go at your pace and help you find your own answers. I hope that coming to counselling you are able to feel more empowered and have a deeper understanding of what had brought you to counselling. I love seeing a person becoming more aware, and confident, having improved communication, healing wounds and finding a path to be themselves and to move forward with self-acceptance.

Counselling has always been a passion of mine but I did not get the chance to study it until I was older, and even though I was late in studying I worked in the care sector for over 15 years working with physical disabilities, the elderly and dementia, learning disabilities, Autism and challenging behaviour.

Since starting my counselling career I have worked with client issues including stress, work-related issues, trauma, self-harm, neurodiverse clients (ASD, ADHD), relationship issues, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, anger and emotional regulation, grief, and supported individuals from the LGBTQI+ community.  This list is not exhaustive so please contact me to ask if you do not see what you are experiencing here.

I am a registered member of the BACP and work in adherence to their Ethical Framework for good practice as well as undertaking regular CPD including study around addiction, anger, attachment and trauma.

I work in private practice under the name Vita Counselling, and I also work in Cudox Therapy CIC. Contact me for a free 15 minute initial phone consultation to see if counselling could help you and whether you feel we fit and are able to work together. The relationship between the counsellor and you is one of the most important aspects of counselling.

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile, please contact me to ask any questions and arrange a free 15-minute consultation. I will respond to every enquiry I receive, if you do not hear back within 24 hours please contact me again and check your spam folder as sometimes replies end up there.  Nikki

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
