About me

Counselling allows you the space to explore your feelings, discomforts, confusion and anxieties. Life can be stressful and overwhelming, you may be feeling sad or anxious. Sometimes, it is difficult to reach out for help. Whatever you are experiencing, by searching for a counsellor you have taken the first step towards investing in yourself.

I have 7 years of experience working with counselling clients; this includes working with charities, private work, rape crisis support, and drug and alcohol rehabilitation. I am here to use my training and skills to help support the change you are seeking. There is no place in counselling for judgement, purely a safe space for you to explore, to use the time and the therapy process to create movements in your life. I am not here to provide you with a clinical, sterile experience, but as a real person, here to listen, guide and be ready to invest in you.

My approach to counselling is integrative, this means that I use different approaches and techniques to meet your needs. Alongside counselling, my previous work has included working with individuals with different learning disabilities, mental health needs and chronic conditions, specifically stroke. I am a professionally qualified Counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Once you have made contact, we can arrange an initial telephone consultation to answer any questions you may have. If you decide you would like to work together, we can then arrange a session. There is no obligation to continue if you feel we are not compatible, finding a therapist that you feel you can work with is important and I can explore other possibilities with you. I provide long and short-term therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
