About me
I am an experienced Dramatherapist and clinical supervisor registered with the HCPC. I am currently offering online Dramatherapy for individuals as well as clinical supervision for arts therapists and other health/care professionals.
Dramatherapy is a type of psychological therapy that involves aspects of the dramatic art-form to promote healing, self acceptance and understanding. I invite clients to work with stories/myths, metaphors, objects and movements to engage the imagination and provide psychological safety when working with difficult or traumatic experiences.
People do not need to have experience of drama or acting to be able to engage in dramatherapy, although an interest can be helpful.
My approach as a dramatherapist is psychodynamically informed. I work with children and adults.

Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

Further information
My approach is informed by psychodynamic theory which holds the therapeutic relationship as being central to the work. I offer a space in which people can explore whatever they need to. I offer various creative methods to deepen this exploration and offer other perspectives but this is at the pace and choice of the person. Sometimes in sessions there may be very little talking involved, in others there may only be talking. Dramatherapy is a very flexible and adaptive therapy that aims to bring our unconscious patterns of behaviour and the roles we take on in our lives to conscious awareness. Dramatherapy can be effective at working with painful material in a distant and manageable way.
