About me
Hello,
I'm Katie, a qualified Psychotherapist, BAPT Registered Play Therapist® , and Counselling Lecturer with a wealth of experience in the field. My journey in the realm of psychotherapy has been a dynamic exploration of healing, growth, and transformation. As a Co-Founder and Director at Family and Therapy in Swansea, my commitment is rooted in guiding individuals, from the youngest to adults and families, toward self-discovery and healing.
In my practice, I bring to life the transformative and philosophy of gestalt psychotherapy—a dynamic, playful and energising approach that celebrates the power of self-awareness and the richness of the present moment. It's not just about understanding ourselves; it's about embracing who we are now and exploring the potential for growth and positive change.
With specialised expertise in trauma and attachment, I recognise the profound impact that early life experiences can have on emotional well-being. Drawing upon my extensive training and experience, I bring a compassionate and insightful approach to my work, fostering an environment conducive to personal growth and promoting positive change. As a counselling lecturer, I am dedicated to sharing my knowledge and expertise, contributing to the education and development of future generations of therapists, nurturing a community that values empathy and authenticity.
Children, with their incredible capacity for imagination and expression, find solace and healing in play therapy. Creating a safe and nurturing space, I encourage them to freely express their emotions through play, fostering a journey of healing and growth. But the magic doesn't stop there; I extend the power of play therapy to adults in psychotherapy, offering a unique and effective way to explore and process emotions.
I am passionate about supporting parents to break down barriers to play with their children. I believe in the transformative power of shared moments of joy and connection. By helping parents overcome challenges or hesitations, I support them to deepen their bonds with their children, creating a foundation of love and understanding within the family.
My commitment to ongoing professional development is reflected in active participation in workshops, conferences, and training programs. This ensures I stay informed, refining skills and incorporating innovative approaches. I am driven by a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those I work with.
My journey with you is one of profound commitment to authenticity and growth. Expertise working with trauma and attachment, coupled with gestalt psychotherapy and play, positions me as a compassionate guide. I believe in the power of connection, the importance of play, and the authenticity that comes from embracing our stories with empathy and optimism.
