About me

Healing State Counselling and Psychotherapy.- Karen Hegarty

I am a professionally qualified Person Centred Counsellor/Psychotherapist who also integrates other therapeutic approaches, with many years of experience of working therapeutically with Adults, Children, and Young People.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to its Ethical Framework.

I have a particular interest in Trauma, PTSD, Addictions and Fear and its connection with Anxiety and Depression and the impact that this has on our relationships with others and ourselves.

At Healing State Counselling and Psychotherapy I provide Person Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy together with integrating other therapeutic approaches like  Emotional Freedom Technique(Tapping), Mindfulness, Trauma Informed Practice using the mind body connection to help meet my client's needs. I also provide Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR), a method that effectively helps reduce traumatic stress from emotionally painful events in the past. I also Coach to help clients facilitate change in their life.

The relationship between Counsellor and Client is very important to me and I believe is core to facilitating change and healing. I also believe in engaging in regular continued professional development as a duty of care to my clients.

How Counselling can help you.

You can benefit from any of these different therapeutic approaches to help you not feel so alone if you may be experiencing, for instance, Low Self Esteem, Anxiety, Depression or Relationship issues or struggling with your relationship to Fear, Grief, Anger, Health, Sexuality or Addiction among other things. You may also be suffering with the impact that Trauma or PTSD is having on your life.

Counselling and Psychotherapy allows you to find greater self awareness through the mind body connection which may facilitate your potential for psychological change, growth and personal fulfilment.

'Healing State Counselling and Psychotherapy' provides a confidential safe place for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions, to help you better understand the personal difficulties you are facing. Being genuinely heard, valued and respected, allows you the environment to reconnect with the trust and value in yourself as we journey throughout our sessions together.

Healing State Counselling and Psychotherapy offers  50-60 minute appointments online at this time via Zoom or Telephone. This provides a safe, confidential and therapeutic space for us to work together with the flexibility on a time that suits you best. I offer you an initial free  30 minute no obligation Telephone or Zoom appointment , which would allow us the chance to talk and initially discuss your difficulties and allows you to ask any questions you may have before you make any decision on your Counselling.

Please feel free to visit my website at healingstatecounselling.com for any further information you may require or drop me an email as I am happy to answer any questions you may have.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
