About me

SEIZE THE MOMENT.............make this your opportunity for positive change.

I provide a professional, safe, calm and confidential space for all of my clients. A space where we can explore issues in a totally non-judgmental and sensitive way. I am client led, with you always deciding on where you want to go and what you want to discuss.

I have an eclectic approach drawing from several theoretical backgrounds including CBT, Solution Focused, Person Centred and Motivational Interviewing, used with addiction problems.

I have been qualified for nearly thirty years and as well as being BACP Accredited and UKRCP Registered, I hold qualifications in Couple Counselling, Addictions, CBT, Psycho-Sexual Therapy, Mental Health Issues, General Counselling and Work Related Stress.

I have been a Registered Mental Health  Practitioner for over thirty years and my career as a Counsellor and Mental Health Therapist has covered areas such as GP Surgeries, Inpatient Hospital Units, Industry, EAP work and Private Practice.

I work with Individuals, Couples, Young People, Older Adults and Organisations. I accept GP and self referrals as well as EAP referrals and work from various NHS settings.

My background was originally in teaching, but after experiencing a series of painful life events which took several years to resolve, I trained in mental health  and then as a counsellor. Looking back, I took risks in changing my career. It was hard and at times a difficult path, but seizing the moment all those years ago was without doubt the best decision I ever made.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
