About me

Face-to-Face - Zoom or Telephone Counselling

Hi, my name is Gilli Harrison - I am an experienced qualified Counsellor offering 1-1 and Couples Counselling, Hypnotherapy, Holistic and Reiki Therapy. I am also a Counselling Supervisor and offer 1-1 and Group Supervision.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) - General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR) - Federation of Holistic Therapist (FHT) - UK Reiki Federation (UKRF).

My counselling approach is, working with the mind, body, and soul.  My own philosophy which has at the very core, an unshakable belief that all people are good, and I believe that each person can, and will, become a more fully functioning person if given the correct conditions.

The underpinning principles of my approach focus on being professional, honest, non-judgemental, and supportive, whilst being fully integrated in the relationship between us.  I respect and encourage your own freedom of expression within the therapeutic process, and I believe it is important that you set the pace of your own counselling sessions, in a confidential, safe, comfortable setting.

Trying to deal with the loss of a loved one can feel confusing and lonely, talking helps,  let me support you through the grieving process.  Having difficulties dealing with stress and anxiety in your life? Let us work together and bring some peace and calm back into your life.  Do you want to work on improving your relationships, communicate better, explore difficult decisions and bring about change, together we can begin this process to secure you and your loved ones a better and brighter future.

Taking that first step can feel like an enormous challenge, but even the longest journey starts with a first step so do please e mail (gilliharr@gmail.com) or call me (07815 045519) for an initial chat.

It is important to find someone with whom you have a rapport, who you can share your feelings with, who you know understands the confusion, disorientation, distress,  and anxiety you are going through.

Do you sometimes feel that you don’t know whether you are coming or going, and your feelings are starting to overwhelm you?  Is life beginning to feel like one long up-hill struggle and you are battling every step of the way on your own, you feel confused, frustrated, and depressed.

Life can feel hard at times and things happen along the way which create difficulties in our everyday life, a bereavement, a loss of any kind, arguments, relationship problems, separation, divorce, work issues, family issues concerning children and adolescents, the list can feel endless.  Feelings of stress, anxiety and depression can bring about feelings of loneliness and isolation, sometimes you can feel "caught in the headlights", you just do not know which way to turn.

Talking is therapy, it helps to talk to someone who is not directly involved in your life, to talk to someone who will listen and understand where you are coming from, someone who is not critical or tells you what to do, someone who can see a situation from different angles.  It helps to share your problems with another person and to feel supported, accepted and understood, as the saying goes “two heads are better than one”.

Come and talk to me, let me walk with you on your journey for a while - together we can help get you back on track, together we can deal with any issues that are causing problems in your life, together we can bring about change in your life so that you may live your life in a more fulling and meaningful way.  Let us work together to achieve the life you want to live.

I offer a warm, friendly, comfortable environment in Old Amersham Buckinghamshire, with private parking.  I am in easy reach of Amersham Station for the Metropolitan Tube and Chiltern Line Trains.  20 minutes' drive from the M25 Rickmansworth turn off (Junction 18) and 20 minutes' from M40 Beaconsfield turn off (Junction 2).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
