About me

My name is Elinor. I am a qualified integrative counsellor who works under the BACP ethical framework with over 6 years experience.

I believe that counselling should be accessible for all and so I offer a very competitive rate and discounts for those on low incomes or students.

I endeavour to provide a welcoming, empathic safe space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and situations. I understand at times life can be tough. Different issues arise during our lives whether it's loss, relationship difficulties, stress, anxiety, depression or anything else and having someone to talk through these with can be very helpful to our mental well being.

I have been drawn to helping people all of my life. I have volunteered for victim support, helping those emotionally through their trauma and specialised in sexual violence. I have previously worked within the NHS as a rehabilitation assistant and more recently have worked as a carer. During these roles I realise that a huge part of the job is being there emotionally for my clients. Having someone to listen to their problems and needs was a big part of their recovery and mental health well-being which lead me into the world of counselling.

I offer single session therapy as well as short and long term.

I am I.C.O registered.

Training, qualifications & experience

My practice is over the communication platform google meet. Each session is 50 mins long. I provide long and short term counselling as well as single session therapy.

I have over 6 years experience in the field of counselling. I graduated with a BSc in psychology and counselling. Years later I went to complete my Level 3 certificate in counselling skills, and then completed my level 4 in therapeutic counselling.

I work as an integrative therapeutic counsellor. This approach ensures that I focus on your needs adapting the therapy as required to meet those needs.

My practice is largely person centred and psycho-dynamic which means the work is led by you the client and focused on the issues you present. The most important thing I feel is having the safe space to express yourself, whether that be to get things of your chest and being heard, exploring a relationship or situation or to want to change.  I believe that in order to change we must first create a self awareness. Getting to know ourselves fully so we can then decide on what we would like to change as well as having control over ourselves. I know that our bodies can tell us a lot about unconscious feelings, and so I may bring mindfulness techniques into the practice if suitable. Throughout my practice I check in with my clients about self care which is a huge part of the process.

I work with a wide variety of presenting problems such as stress, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, problems with sleeping, addictions, work related issues, relationship issues, self-esteem and loneliness, loss and bereavement, trauma and abuse, sexual problems, isolation, social anxiety to name a few.

I offer single session therapy as well as long and short term.

ADHD awareness trained.

LQBTQIA+ awareness trained.

I have valid insurance and a current full DBS.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Once this is done we will book in our first session which will be a fuller assessment, contracting and looking at the presenting issue.

From here we can make a plan together of how long you want therapy for, what type of therapy you might prefer to receive and make some outcome goals for us to work towards.
