About me

I have some new availability on Mondays and Fridays.
I'm a qualified psychotherapist, NCS accredited, BACP registered counsellor and AC accredited coach. I am committed to providing quality psychotherapy and counselling that is professional, compassionate, and potent. I aim to create a safe and supportive place to explore what's important to you - how you feel, think, and experience your life. Working in collaboration with you to bring you self-awareness, self-acceptance, and a new capacity to grow with life changes.

Before training as a therapist, I spent many years in corporate life. Indeed I continue to provide executive and performance coaching in several business settings. This enables me to stay close to and appreciate the impact of work-life balance, leadership and career pressures, role changes, redundancy, and retirement. I have also gained considerable experience as a counsellor with mental health charities MIND and MOSAC. The latter is dedicated to supporting families where sexual abuse has occurred. I grew up in Ireland, migrating to the UK for work and further studies.

About my service

I work with adults, offering individual and group counselling for various issues and problems. I work in a way that values and respects all of your experiences. My purpose is to heighten awareness and identify new resources which help you tackle difficulties, including traumatic historical or recent events. While my focus is on what's happening for you now, I provide a safe environment should it be beneficial to you to explore past situations or relationships that may be contributing to current challenges.

I am aware that what is sometimes called the inner critic or inner judge can lead to distress or trigger feelings of shame. Together we build ways to disengage from these negative thought processes and move toward an alternative, positive, realistic, balanced outlook.

Practically, I meet clients weekly for 50 minutes, ideally for a minimum of twelve sessions. However, this part of working together will depend on our mutual agreement during our initial sessions.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
