About us

Finding a therapist can feel overwhelming. So let us help you narrow the search.

City Road Therapy is a therapy practice not far from Angel tube station, in North London.  We have over 50 fully trained counsellors and therapists practising from light, comfortable rooms who offer all types of talking therapies to individuals, couples, children, teenagers and families.

We run a referral service which is intended to help match you with 'the right' therapist.  You can request a callback to ask questions or we can just email you a few suggestions of therapists with session space once you've completed a short form via our homepage telling us a bit about you.

There are lots of reasons why people reach out for therapy.  Well known reasons include depression, anxiety, relationship issues, a bereavement, disordered eating or compulsive behaviours, anger or irritability.  But there are other feelings or worries that may not be so easy to bracket; feelings stuck in life, a bit low, loneliness, feeling sad or fed up or a bit lost about who you are and where you fit.  Our therapists are trained to support you with whatever it is you bring to therapy. It's worth sharing that therapy is most successful when there is a connection between therapist and client, hence why it's worth taking a bit of time to explore who may be a good match for you.

We are open seven days a week and our therapists have space from early in the morning until late in the evening.  Sessions must be booked by appointment.

We are two minutes from Angel tube station, 10 minutes from Old Street and 15 minutes from Kings Cross and on multiple bus routes.

Training, qualifications & experience

Our practitioners are all fully trained and are registered with professional bodies including BACP, UKCP, HCPC and BPC.

Some work with CBT or art or movement therapy but the majority of our therapists work integratively which means they work with various techniques depending on individual need.

All our therapists are insured and manage their own private practices.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.
