About me

Hello. My name is Charlotte, I'm a counsellor and psychotherapist.

Choosing a therapist can feel like a difficult task, especially when starting the process of counselling. You might be asking yourself how will you know who's the right therapist for you? and you may base you decision is it on expertise? qualifications? or perhaps profile picture to who you think you will have the best connection with.

Whether you are experiencing anxiety or depression, trying to navigate a mental health condition such as ADHD or recently noticed you've been having feelings of low self-esteem. Maybe you would like to talk to someone about the family issues you are encountering?

Then this is something I can try to do to help, guide, and support you.

If you're reading my profile, then chances are that either you, or somebody you care about, is going through a really hard time at the moment. And I know that picking up the phone or sending a message to a therapist can feel really overwhelming and scary.

I will listen to you, and I work with you as your ally. I am warm, I am kind, and I want to help. I treat you with respect and dignity. I do not judge. I'm a human being who has seen plenty of life and I know that you are too.

I am a Person-Centred counsellor. That means I focus on building a genuine working relationship between therapist and client. I put you in full control of our sessions, so that you decide what we talk about, but I'm there to help you find the feelings behind them. If there are any answers to find, then we find them together, as a team.

My work is confidential. I will never share anything you tell me, unless there is an extremely good reason to do so. If you choose to work with me, I will explain the rules of how I work to you clearly, so that you feel like you fully understand them.

No subject is off limits with me. I have a very broad range of experience in three years of practice. This included working for a bereavement service, an alcohol and drug addiction charity, and a health insurance provider. I work with all kinds of issues and am trained and qualified to do so.

I offer a 20 minute consultation on the phone, completely free of charge, with no obligation to work with me if you do not wish too.

If you decide you would like to work with me, please send me an email enquiry. I work Monday-Thursday 10.00 am- 6 pm both over the telephone and on video calls.

I work as part of Southampton Counselling Practice. We're a small team of Person-Centred counsellors supporting each other. If you are seeking face-to-face counselling, or sessions on another day, please consider having a look at the rest of my team. We can also support multiple members of the same family through individual, couples and family therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
