About me

Hi and welcome.

I provide a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space to explore your feelings and experiences. I'm a psychodynamic psychotherapist and counsellor which means I work with you in an in-depth way so that we can better understand your inner world. Through my warm and empathic approach I provide you with the security and space to pause and reflect, to feel your feelings and contemplate the relevance of earlier experiences and relationships to make sense of the present, make links, and gain new insights. From working with me I hope you would gain an improved understanding of yourself, feel more confident and better equipped in managing your difficulties and live life with increased pleasure and meaning.

People choose to start psychotherapy because of the struggles they face; often there is pain, sadness, suffering and loss with a sense of being stuck in it. It may be that you feel alone, unfulfilled or anxious or perhaps you have experienced a trauma which continues to affect you. We can work through these difficulties and others together safely.

I value the individuality of each client I work with and I am skilled in building meaningful therapeutic relationships with clients. Where relevant, I consider the importance of race, culture, class, sexuality, community, society, and its impact.

In our busy lives where it is more convenient to have counselling online, I value the benefit and quality of in-person therapy and I encourage you to truly carve out some time for yourself and feel the impact it has on you. I take great care in providing clients with a warm, calm, nourishing physical therapy space. I work from contemporary therapy rooms in east London and a more luxury room in central London.

I offer short-term counselling, time limited and open-ended psychotherapy.

You may want short-term counselling (e.g., 8-12 sessions) to work through a specific issue or there may be a few areas of your life which you would like to spend time exploring and working through in a long-term capacity. We can discuss your needs during your initial meeting and contract accordingly.

I would be happy to talk about how we might work together in a free 15 minute telephone call consultation.

Training, qualifications & experience

My qualifications include a Masters in Psychodynamic Counselling & Psychotherapy (Distinction) completed at Goldsmiths University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Child and Young Person’s IAPT Therapy (Merit) completed at Kings College London.

I am experienced in providing long-term psychodynamic psychotherapy and short term counselling to adults in private practice, the third sector and the NHS.

My professional background also includes working therapeutically with children, young people and refugees affected by PTSD, trauma, depression and anxiety in the third sector and the NHS.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
