About me

Are you finding life challenging or overwhelming? Are you feeling stuck and unable to move on? Do you feel unsupported, unseen or unheard? Are you struggling with a life change or a traumatic event? If so, I can work with you to lighten the load, and help you to live a better life.

My name is Sian. I am a therapeutic counsellor at Time 2 Talk Counselling. I'm based near Abingdon in Oxfordshire and also online, and I offer a caring, non-judgmental, confidential space to focus on you.

I am a qualified integrative psychotherapist and a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I abide by the BACP code of professional conduct. My way of working is person-centred, which means that I will support you in finding your best way forward by exploring whatever thoughts and feelings you choose to bring to the sessions. I am also trained in Transactional Analysis and Gestalt, so I can tailor my way of working to suit your individual needs. I recognise that the development of an open and trusting therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is fundamental to emotional healing and personal growth, so I will always work at your pace with what you choose to share.

I see adult clients of any age, gender, race, religion, culture or sexual orientation.

I have experience working with a range of issues including problems with confidence or low self-esteem, problems with personal or work relationships, anxiety, depression, trauma, and life changes. Your reasons for seeking therapy will be specific to you, and counselling can be helpful for anyone, no matter how big or small the struggle may seem.

My work is supervised by a clinical supervisor in order to ensure it remains safe and ethical, and I am deeply committed to continuing my own personal and professional development in order to offer a reflective, supportive and ethical practice.

I offer a free, no-obligation, 20-minute telephone call so that you can ask questions and get a feel for whether I would be right for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

Training and Experience

I trained with a mental health charity in South Oxfordshire helping individuals to address a range of different issues including low self-esteem and confidence, problems with relationships, trauma, anxiety and depression, grief, procrastination, and changes in life direction. In addition to my private practice, I continue to work with a charity in Reading specialising in supporting adult survivors of sexual abuse and rape.

Prior to becoming a counsellor, I had a varied career, firstly in scientific research and later as a chartered management accountant, and so I have experience of working in both public and private sectors.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
