About me

Welcome,

I'm Rizwan. I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist here to help you.

I believe the path to positive change is easier when you have the right support in place. That’s why I take a person-centred approach to therapy, where your voice and concerns are the focus of the therapy. This may seem obvious at first look, but it means that the support you receive will be tailored for your needs. It also means is that your life will be at the forefront of all our conversations, because when you have someone working with you, making sure your voice is heard and your needs are met, life is much is easier to live.

Counselling can help in many ways. I am actually an example of this! Yes, I even went to counselling myself. While I had friends and family around me, by speaking to a counsellor, I was able to address the issues in my life without harming my relationships with those same friends and family. My counsellor facilitated conversations I couldn’t have with anyone else, and provided a place where I was safe and understood. I will admit that the counselling I received made a significant impact on the person I am today.

However, I will also admit that at the beginning of my counselling journey, I didn't really know how to access any help or support. I didn’t even know what was available. This only added to my frustration. So, when I became a counsellor, I wanted to challenge the difficulties I had when trying to access the support I needed. Therefore, with me, your journey begins with a simple call or message. I will help you navigate everything from there.

Whether you are just beginning your healing process, or you are deeply involved with therapy already, I am here to ensure that you are heard and that you have the help and support you need.  If this sounds and feels what you are looking for, then feel free any to call, message, or send me an email. You can even send a WhatsApp message.

We can arrange a FREE 30-minute discussion at a time that suits you.

I look forward to starting our conversation.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked with people of all ages and background who have suffered from a wide variety of health conditions such as depression, anxiety, grief, stress, and low self-esteem, as well as physical ailments such as substance misuse and alcohol dependency. I offer a safe, nurturing space where clients can offload and explore their emotions and become more self-aware, active, and resilient. I make suggestion and offer guidance for my clients to make the right decisions in their own lives, and help them reach their full potential.

Children and young people

With over 15 years of dedicated experience, I have specialised in supporting children and young people through a wide array of mental health issues such as ASD, ADHD, and Dyslexia. My current role as a high school counsellor means that I am responsible for providing therapeutic support for teenage students. I do this by guiding them through the pressures of adolescence and early adulthood through participation in their educational and home lives. My dedication extends to nurturing the well-being of our upcoming generation, and ensuring they are receiving the support and guidance necessary for their emotional development.

Adults

My experience working with adults is as extensive as my work with children. Dealing with a diverse range of mental health concerns, I recognise the need to approach each individual case with a tailored strategy and solution. From relationship issues to work-related frustrations, I have provided comprehensive counselling services to address each of my client’s needs. My commitment extends to fostering support and ensuring emotional well-being and resilience.

Veterans

I have also worked with Army and Royal Air Force veterans, who were experiencing troubles such as PTSD, anxiety, low-mood, depression, trauma, social reintegration and much more. I have seen myself as an ally to the armed forces and understand the need to provide my clients with targeted support that aids their journey towards mental wellbeing.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
