About me
I am an empathic and caring psychotherapist and art therapist with extensive experience of working with adults with severe and enduring mental health difficulties.
My approach is person centred, relational (attachment based), trauma informed and adaptable to people’s needs. I can incorporate elements of mindfulness, CBT, psycho-education, mentalisation based treatment (MBT) and solution focused work.
I am skilled in helping people learn to use their innate creativity as a means of expression; connection; insight; exploration and fun.
I can tailor my approach to offer more directive short term work or longer term exploratory work, thus providing opportunity for finding a deeper understanding of the self.
I am also available to offer clinical supervision to other therapists or trainees.
Please email me or see my website: www.beckypiggotpsychotherapy.com for more information.
Training, qualifications & experience
Since graduating in 2015 with an MA in Art Psychotherapy (from Goldsmith's University, London) I have been working for the NHS in the field of secondary adult mental health services, across both the Crisis Services and Community Mental Health Teams and am currently working part-time as the lead of an NHS Arts Psychotherapies Service.
During this time, I have acquired extensive experience of working with individuals with severe and enduring mental health difficulties, particularly working with survivors of trauma.
I have additional training in Arts Psychotherapies Advanced Supervision (through ICAPT) and Supervision Training through the British Association of Art Therapists. In 2021 I also completed practitioner training in Mentalisation Based Treatment (MBT) through the Anna Freud Centre, and am continuing to work towards MBT practitioner status.
Prior to this, I have experience of working with children and adults with learning disabilities; and of working with older adults and people with dementia. In these roles, I have worked in both a creative and supportive capacity.
I am fully insured and professionally supervised. I am registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and am a registered member of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT).
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

About me
I am passionate about helping people to heal or to reach their personal goals, and feel very honoured to do this important work with people. I am constantly in awe of the human capacity for recovery and growth, and of the role that creativity and a shared narrative can play in this process. I also learn so much from the inspiring individuals that I work with and I frequently engage in further training; reading or evaluation that can develop my practice.
