About me

I am an experienced BACP registered counsellor and psychotherapist, providing professional support in confidence, either in-person or online. I work with adults as well as young people over the age of 16.

My practice, Aurora Counselling, is centrally located in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames for in-person sessions. Practice rooms are located in Richmond town centre, Twickenham High Street and Hampton.

You may be seeking counselling or psychotherapy because of the impact of recent events, or perhaps past experiences have had a lasting effect on you and are holding you back from achieving the quality of life you want. You may be going through a significant change or loss and are finding it difficult to cope or know how to move forward. You may be experiencing anxiety or depression, stress with relationships, parenthood or work, have health issues or, feel stuck in a particular area of life. Whatever you are going through, exploring issues safely in therapy will help make sense of things and how to find a way through.

As a qualified Integrative practitioner, I draw upon extensive knowledge of psychotherapeutic approaches to explore the way in which issues are affecting clients within the personal framework of their lives. This help clients uncover deep insights into personal issues, to discover new perspectives and solutions and to experience transformative changes that help to deal with future challenges.

Counselling and psychotherapy may involve humanistic, Gestalt, CBT or psychoanalytic elements but will, at the heart of the process, be a warm, empathic, relational and person-centred process with a central focus on your needs and value placed on your feeling at ease in the therapeutic relationship.

I am also experienced in using creative and holistic techniques. This includes using clay and other art materials, photographs, journaling, visualisation, dreamwork, archetypes and mindfulness. Elements of creative and holistic ways of working can be brought into sessions if this is something that you feel may be helpful for you.

Having trained in performance coaching, I can provide clients who are looking for personal development focused sessions coaching or a blend of counselling and coaching.

As a registered counsellor and psychotherapist with the BACP, I abide by the ethics and regulations of the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. Respect for confidentiality, diversity, and individuality of choice is at the heart of my practice.

If you are considering whether counselling can help you, contact me to talk things through.

My experience includes working with loss, trauma, attachment, bereavement, relationships, sexuality, parenthood, OCD, anxiety, cancer, transitions and identity.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) accredited qualification in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling; British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited Bsc (Hons) in Psychology and Certified Diploma in Performance Coaching.

Alongside my private counselling practice, I am a counsellor at Richmond Borough Mind and at The Mulberry Centre at West Middlesex Hospital which provides counselling for those affected directly by cancer and to their loved ones. I am also a Samaritan listener, providing emotional support to callers.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
