About us

Phinity Therapy

We at Phinity believe in placing our clients at the centre of care.  Our philosophy is authentic and heartfelt care, we marry this with a curiosity of our clients, and the latest ideas and developments in the field of psychology. This allows us to attune to our clients’ needs, and also use innovation and creativity to be our best, for our clients – who are the reason we are so passionate about what we do.

Our Clinic

Phinity Therapy are situated in the famous medical quarter in the Centre of the Heart of England - Birmingham, in a Grade II listed building.  This is no coincidence, everything we do at Phinity is thought through, with our clients in mind.  This is why we offer three spacious and comfortable therapy rooms, each with their own character.  For instance, our Freud room offers the ‘couch’, this means you can lie down and close your eyes (if you want) which helps some people feel relaxed and more easily bring forth thoughts and insights.

About Me

As the Founder and Clinical Director of Phinity Therapy I am qualified in Psychology and Counselling Psychology and possess several years' of clinical experience in the NHS, charity sector, and private practice.  I currently work with individuals, couples, and families experiencing a range of issues, and what are known to some as psychiatric disorders.

We are highly ethical practitioners, holding memberships with, and guided by the ethics of the BPS (British Psychological Society), BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy), and SEA (Society for Existential Analysis).

We respect diversity, having worked with individuals of varying backgrounds, ages, cultures, and complexity.  Our approach is philosophically pluralistic so we keep a very open mind about how we work with you, aiming to understand how you wish to work, and offering recommendations and guidance so we can collaboratively create a treatment plan that is individualised to you, and your needs and goals.

We are also integrative, this means we offer a range of psychological approaches and can use our expertise to integrate what works well for you based on your therapeutic needs.  Another important aspect of our focus is the therapeutic relationship. The research shows that the relationship between us can be just as, and possibly even more important than the therapeutic approach(s) we use. This is not a surprise when we consider that we are always in relation with others. It is with this intention we have often observed success with our clients.

At Phinity, we will attempt to facilitate a relationship of trust, such that you will not feel misjudged, and will feel our genuine empathy. This is a unique space in which you will feel heard, held, and safe. It is here that we hope to facilitate open and honest dialogue, so we may explore your concerns, anxieties, pain, trauma, or sadness, and uncover issues you might normally avoid because they feel threatening. This safe confrontation will allow you to learn how to process your challenges in a helpful way which is incredibly powerful, changing how you relate to yourself, others, and your world, thereby offering movement toward healing, growth, and.....joy.

With us, you are entering into a relationship with practitioners who are incredibly passionate about continual development, keeping in touch with the latest research and ideas so we can do our best to help you develop in ways that best serve you.  And so, we hope to encourage your actualisation, your movement toward the version of you that you can, want, and deserve to be.  You can be assured we will competently guide you toward your desired outcome.

Member organisations *

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.
