About me
I am a qualified person centred counsellor and psychotherapist with seven years of experience, working with a wide range of issues. I am based in the Cairngorm National Park area and have the use of a therapy room in Rothiemerchus area, on the outskirts of Aviemore.
I believe that counselling should be made accessable to as many people that need it and as travel is often a barrier, living in the Scottish Highlands, I also see people online or via telephone. I have done the relevant training in these methods and have found, in my experience, they are as effective as face to face sessions.
I am qualified to work with Children and Young People from the age of 10 - 18 and have spent the last three years working in schools in the Highlands as a counsellor.
Before working in psychotherapy, I spent seven years working in schools with CYP with additional needs.
Although I am passionate about my work with Children and young people, I have had seven years of experience with adults and feel as passionate about that.
In life we experience many ups and downs and, these days, life is hectic, with very little time to process how we feel about things. I often tell people that counselling is like emptying the junk drawer. Checking if we need it anymore, throwing it away if not and putting everything we do back neatly so we can find it again. Sometimes when we don't look at our experiences and put them to the back of our minds without processing the feelings around it, these feelings eventually spill out into our everyday stuff.
I aim to provide a safe space for you to explore anything that you need to make sense of.
I hold the firm belief that if we are given the space and are provided with a non-judgemental, accepting environment with someone that is genuine and cares that we can grow, create and maintain these conditions for ourselves.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
