About me

Do you want to talk to someone impartial about your difficulties? If you feel stuck in your life, psychoanalytic psychotherapy will help you to bring about change. I believe everyone should be listened to especially when experiencing emotional distress.

  • I see therapy as a journey of self-discovery, in which you recognise your needs and your sources of suffering, figuring out a way to navigate between them in your life.
  • Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is especially helpful for working at a deep level or with complex issues. This means looking not only at a specific symptom but understanding the issue in the context of your childhood, analysing both present and past difficulties.
  • Psychotherapy can help with issues ranging from everyday struggles, emotional difficulties, to more serious matters such as trauma, abuse or altered consciousness states.

I have experience working with people dealing with depression, anxiety, various forms of trauma or PTSD, as well as broader questions around identity, sexuality and relationship issues.

I am interested in a reflective approach to the meaning of life in addition to questions around human suffering, drawing on many years of studying philosophy and psychoanalysis.

How we work together

The way I work is primarily to provide a reliable space where you can explore your emotional response to your experiences. Your emotional response can be ambivalent at times, or you might be unaware of it.

I believe you are the expert when it comes to your own life. That is why working psychoanalytically focuses more on the question rather than giving advice or providing ready-made answers.

Looking at dreams and other unconscious phenomena is also part of the therapeutic process.

Next steps

If you have any questions or you are thinking of starting therapy, feel free to book a call, send me an email or drop a text. You will usually get a reply within 24 hours to arrange a time to meet that is mutually convenient.

During our initial consultation you can ask any questions and you can get an idea about what it will be like for us to work together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I have been trying to make sense of the world (or people) around me since I can remember. My interest took me to psychology and more broadly to questions about how the mind works.

Why are we sad? Or happy? Or even angry? Is it just a response to an external or present action, or is there more to it than that?

If the past influences the present, then how can we introduce change? Is our life determined from birth or do we get to make choices? If we do, how do we know we made the right choice(s)?

All these questions have led me to study philosophy in trying to figure out how others have answered these questions before us.

I then realised that there may be a way to answer at least some if not all these questions for ourselves. That has brought me to psychoanalysis.

I recognised that psychotherapy is a journey you embark upon, if you would like to get to know how you came to be who you are. Also perhaps to rediscover your past in a different light. It might not always be easy or comfortable, but it is a path towards self-knowledge.

I became a psychotherapist because I wanted to be there for other people on their journey, no matter what they are dealing with.
