About me

I am a caring, compassionate and easy to talk to counselling therapist.

We often look after others but forget to look after ourselves. It is important to look after yourself and make time for yourself and counselling is a place where you can begin to do that; to work on yourself, understand yourself better and resolve difficulties and worries in your life.

It's great you have found this site and are thinking about counselling/therapy. I know it can be daunting but I am happy to answer any of your questions, I am very approachable and down to earth and I offer a free half hour chat via phone/video or online where you can find out more and we can talk over any questions or worries you might have about starting therapy.

More About Me

My name is Kim and I am fully qualified, integratively trained counselling therapist and clinical supervisor, working in the Horsham/Billingshurst/Crawley area.  I also have additional training and qualifications to work online.  I am happy to work face to face or via phone, video, email and chat.

I work with adults, teens and children and have experience across a number of areas, including anxiety, depression, relationships, etc. I have particular experience in working with neurodiversity, (ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia etc.) special needs, disabilities and with LGBTQ+ including, sexuality, polyamory, ethical non-monogamy, and other relationship issues.

How I Work

I am trained and work integratively, meaning I draw from a number of counselling and therapeutic modalities,  including person-centred/humanistic, psychodynamic, solutions-focussed, positive psychology, DBT and CBT modalities. I will always respond to your requirements and will adapt your therapy to what you need, what works for you and what is most helpful to you.

I am able to offer, short-term, solutions-focussed and open-ended counselling therapy. I am also happy to offer Single Session Therapy.

What happens when you contact me?

I am happy for you to contact me, even if you are unsure what you want or need and am always happy to talk through with you any concerns you might have about starting therapy.

I will always do my best to reply as soon as possible, I understand you may be anxious and eager to speak to someone as soon as possible. I aim to reply within 24 hours, and often do reply much sooner.

I am happy to answer and questions and usually offer a free initial conversation, on the phone or or via email/online, so we can talk about what you need and how we might work together.

After that, if you are happy, I will send out what I call my intake questionnaire where you can tell me more if you wish to do so and we can arrange our first session. This can be in-person or online/over the telephone.  I am trained in both face-to-face and online counselling therapy.

As mentioned, I will send you a questionnaire so you can let me know what you want to work on; you can complete this online or I can print it out and we can go through it together in your first session. I will also send you out additional information that explains how I keep your data safe etc. so you are as informed as possible about what to expect.

The first session is a great place to talk about what's on your mind and to get an overview of what is going on for you.  You will then be able to decide whether you would like to continue and have further sessions.

Sometimes, a single session is all that's needed, sometimes more.  Sometimes I recommend a block of 6 sessions we will have a review towards the end - it's a good place to start if you are not sure how long you will need. You get to decide how many sessions you would like, and we will always have regular reviews to check things are still working for you.

There's no commitment if you decide after the initial session that it's not for you and equally if you feel the time isn't right yet you can always return later when you are ready.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
