About me

Hello, my name is Jorge and I am a Psychotherapist and Counsellor, registered with the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).

I run a private practice in North London, working with clients for long-term or short-term therapy, both in person and online. Previously, I have also worked several years in different counselling services across London.

I am qualified in Integrative Relational Psychotherapy and Counselling. This allows me to flexibly draw from a range of therapeutic approaches, which means we can find the best way of meeting your needs in the therapeutic process.  Whatever may be bringing you to therapy, my aim is to support you in finding your way to a more fulfilling life.

My approach is to co-create a warm space and trusting connection between us, where we can explore what is bringing you to therapy with care and curiosity, and gentle challenge when needed. My hope is to do this thoughtfully and always in service of your therapeutic process.

The relationship we build is central to why psychotherapy can be a transformative experience. I am invested in working collaboratively and creatively with you so we can look with compassion and honesty at patterns and experiences in your life, and relationships, that may be causing you distress, or no longer working for you.

I welcome and enjoy working with people from all walks of life. I respect and value your unique background, being mindful of culture, gender, age, religion, sexuality and the beliefs and values you may hold.

If you have questions or would like to arrange an initial session, please feel free to get in touch.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience helping clients with a range of different issues including anxiety, depression, feeling sad, low self-confidence, relationship issues, family issues, trauma, bereavement and loss, stress, addiction, loneliness, anger management, social anxiety, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, panic attacks, ADHD, PTSD, sex problems, affairs and betrayals, separation and divorce, perfectionism and dissociation.

Counselling & Psychotherapy training and qualifications:

  • MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling, Metanoia Institute.
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotherapy and Integrative Studies, Metanoia Institute.
  • Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling, Metanoia Institute.
  • Practitioner Certificate in Advanced Counselling Skills, The Minster Centre.

I am a registered member of British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and my work is fully insured and professionally supervised.

Other qualifications:

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Brand Management
  • BSc in Marketing Management

Experience:

In addition to my private practice, I have previously worked for several years at two counselling services in London: The Highbury Counselling Centre and the Camden Listening and Counselling Centre.

Before training as a psychotherapist I worked in Marketing and Advertising. This provided me with a good understanding of the work pressures and stress of the corporate world and has been a valuable experience to support clients working in high pressure environments.

I also had the opportunity of living in different countries and working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, which has provided me with an appreciation and understanding of different cultures and values.

I am experienced and enjoy working with clients from the LGBTQ+ community.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
