About me

If you're feeling stressed, anxious, or depressed, feel different because of your culture, sexuality or disability, and are dealing with ADHD or autism—whether diagnosed or self-identified, I can help.

I am a highly-trained psychotherapist with experience working within NHS counselling services and private hospitals such as the Priory. I have helped many people from diverse backgrounds like you, who are also neurodivergent. I offer you a safe space to navigate your unique challenges through existential therapy

I acknowledge that distress and suffering are an understandable response to being viewed as 'different' in a traumatising world and offer you a non-judgmental, safe space to talk, scream, shout, swear, break down, rebuild yourself or simply just be. However, I am not a passive therapist in your journey of self-discovery and will provide gentle accountability throughout.

I am uniquely a lawyer-turned-psychotherapist. I am grateful for my formative experience in law. I feel privileged I can now make a positive impact by venturing outside of the legal system. I have a natural thoroughness, the ability to communicate difficult concepts, and an analytical, curious mind. I will bring my analytical thinking and confidential, caring nature to our therapeutic work. I'll ask the big questions, support you to unlock profound insights and walk alongside you as you heal the impact of critical or dismissive parenting, navigate feelings of loneliness, loss of identity or overwhelm, and find fulfilment and a clear way forward in your personal and professional journeys.

What are my credentials and what techniques or approaches do I use during therapy?

My approach blends evidence-based practices such as existential therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) theory. As well as completing an M.A. in Psychotherapy and Counselling from Regents University, I continually seek learning from outside of what is institutionalised and deemed legitimate by academia, to ensure I offer you a complete experience on a physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual level. Additionally, then, I integrate wisdom from spirituality, existential analysis, Eastern philosophy, and Jungian psychology to provide a holistic therapeutic experience.

Do I have experience dealing with your specific issue or concern?

I've supported individuals dealing with an array of issues. Whether it's everyday stress, or complex relationship issues, anxiety, depression or trauma, I stand by your side, offering support as you heal, change, and grow. With years of experience in various therapy settings, including NHS counselling services and the Priory Hospital, I've worked with diverse individuals, including those from BAME backgrounds and marginalised communities.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

Your first session
In the opening session, it's about setting the stage for our journey together. We'll start by revisiting our initial chat, grounding ourselves in what you've shared and getting to know each other a bit more.

This isn't just a routine introduction; it's about building trust and understanding. I'll offer insights into how therapy typically operates and my approach.

Then, it's over to you—to express what you're seeking from counselling and your expectations. We'll talk through your goals and expectations while addressing any questions or uncertainties you may have.

This initial conversation is pivotal, creating a roadmap for our future sessions.

Whether we're meeting online via Zoom or in person, I strive to foster an environment that supports your comfort and convenience, ensuring our journey together begins with understanding and trust.

And if, at the end, you're unsure or seeking more time to decide, that's perfectly okay. I'm here to guide you toward what feels right, even if it means finding support elsewhere.
