About me

www.therapybrad.co.uk

Childhood forms our adulthood and the very way we view the world, as well as ourselves and those around us. It is where most adult issues are rooted - including anxiety, co-dependency and depression. For this reason, I specialise in helping clients discover where it all started so they be freed from it.

By tackling the issues at original source, we can not only resolve them but change our thinking and learn to avoid being vulnerable to them in the future. No more: "Why do I always end up with an abuser?", or: "I feel anxious all the time."

"Brad guided me through a difficult time, showing great empathy, but also giving me practical tools to use day to day to help me with my issues. I would gladly recommend him without hesitation."

Mr P

I provide a relaxing, confidential space where individuals and couples can share the things troubling them - without fear of bias, judgement or ridicule.

Sessions are run to suit you, not the other way round.
From the very beginning, you are supported to better understand your situation and why you are feeling the way you are. It is important to feel able to share. I've lost count of the number of clients who say: "I've never told anyone this before...", often in the very first session.

Couples
Couples counselling is available regardless of gender. Sometimes just two sessions are enough to help couples reframe their thinking and approach to each other.

First Session
If you have never been to therapy before, don't worry. Am one of those people who is not at all scary - as both my students and children have told me. Time is not wasted filling out forms or paperwork that you can do at home.

The Sessions
Sessions are adapted to you, as we go, to best suit what comes up and your needs on any given day. It is kind, caring, supportive process that helps guide you forward. Never any criticism, always unconditional, positive regard and progress at a pace to suit you - free to breathe, relax and be yourself.

Last Session
When you are ready to part ways, the door is never closed. Former clients are always welcome to come back for a 'top up' session - an example is a client who got back in touch when expecting their first child. One session was all it took.

The range of therapeutic approaches includes:

  • Archetypes
  • Behavioural
  • Elemental
  • Gestalt
  • Goal setting
  • Inner child
  • Introjections
  • Lifescripts
  • Mindfulness
  • Multimind
  • Object Relations

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
