"I've had several therapists before but none have taken me down this rabbit hole of discovery. It's great." (client's words in November)
My style is to provide a safe, supportive environment where your thoughts and concerns are both heard and guided towards revelations and resolutions - rather than trying to make your needs fit a particular technique or process. Am the opposite of the NHS using CBT as a general fix, whether CBT is appropriate or not.
I began studying psychotherapy and counselling, while in therapy myself - after escaping domestic abuse, with sole custody of the children. Now, having had three years of therapy (a standard course requirement), am particuarly well placed to help those who have suffered or are suffering domestic abuse, regardless of gender. Also trained to help with a wide range of other issues, including anxiety, depression, addictions, bereavement, relationships and general stress.
I use a fully-integrative approach to discover the influences on clients - from early childhood onwards, including from the subconscious. Therapy helped me understand how much we can be affected by events in our lives, many of which we have forgotten, yet these events remain active in our shadow, feeding us doubts, anxieties and low self-esteem. Getting to know our life-scripts, event timelines and 'talk' to our younger selves through wounded-child work can bring amazing benefits to us as adults; positively impacting work, relationships and our lives in general.
How My Sessions Are Run
I offer a free 20-minute, no obligation, introductory chat to get a feel for your concerns. Sessions are adapted to you, with a range of techniques chosen to suit you - and further adapted as we go, to suit what comes up and your state of mind on any given day. It is kind, caring process to help you go forward. There is never any criticism, only unconditional, positive regard and guidance, at a pace to suit you.
No one solution fits all so a range of skills are employed, as required, including:
- Art Therapy
- Emotional Intelligence
- Goal setting
- Object Relations
- Polyvagal Relaxation
- Safe Space
- The Shadow
- Transactional Analysis
- Wounded child
Training, qualifications & experience
- Level 4 Diploma - in Psychotherapy and Counselling
- Level 3 Diploma - in Psychotherapy and Counselling
- Foundation Certificate - in Psychotherapy and Counselling
Client training began almost from day one on the Foundation course. It started with peers and, during the diploma, progressed to manning a drop-in centre, where anyone and everyone could come. It meant being trained to deal with a wide variety of clients, with zero warning of issues that would be presented; without fear, prejudice or judgement.

University of Silesia
Six years living in Poland, with two-year's teacher training at the university's English Language Study Centre. Taught English and helped develop educational methodologies - articles published in IATEFL's magazine and presented at international teacher-training conferences; including IATEFL Poland's Annual Conference in Kraków.
My students significantly out-performed their peers, from Beginner to CAE level - who were using traditional, grammar-based techniques.
Films and Documentaries
While in Poland, also wrote/produced/directed three feature-length films and an award-winning documentary, repeatedly broadcast on Canal+. Very challenging yet rewarding work, which built many friendships and gave access to some special locations - including the Rotunda church on the 20zl banknote.
Investigative television journalist, mostly undercover for Channel 4 (Dispatches) and Channel 5, as well as ITN and the BBC.
First person to walk into Channel 4 with high-quality, morally-shot undercover footage; broadcast on my first Dispatches in 2005.
2.1(hons) B.Eng degree in Production Engineering.
First person to gain the Plain English Campaign's 'crystal mark' for a computer guide.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

I am double vaccinated and work to ensure good ventilation between/during sessions.
As with the way I taught English: empowering students to help themselves while guiding them forward, I help you get to the root causes of your issues. If addictions, I don't focus on the addiction but on why the addiction. If low-self esteem, where does it originate from and how has that manifested itself throughout your life? If depression, what is going on to block your needs being met? If relationship issues, what is not just causing them but continuing them?
Criminal-record checked: confirming zero criminal history and am also a parent deemed fit to be granted sole custody of my young children. In other words, don't worry, am one of the good guys.
