About me

**currently offering online sessions only**

I believe that you are the expert in your life and I see myself as a compassionate witness and companion along your unique journey. I also believe that is important that we have the opportunity to be seen, heard and to feel safe. From this space of connection and presence to ourselves we may discover the deep ocean of wisdom and potential that lies within each of us.

In an age where there is no shortage of people telling you how you should think, feel, behave, and look, why not create some space for you to explore who you really are, without judgment or expectation...

If you are wondering how counselling might serve you at this time in your life and would like an exploratory conversation - you are very welcome to reach out and get a feel for how we might work together to create a relationship that supports you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have completed a four year master's degree (MSc) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy at the Turning Point Institute in Dublin/accredited by University College Cork.

I am also a Mental Health Nurse with a background in working with people who have experienced complex trauma and hold a Postgraduate Diploma in mental health nursing from King's College London.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

My wish is to co-create a space with you where the whole of you is welcome.

I am also curious about what the body has to say, as so much of our experience goes beyond words and our body has a language of its own.

I have extensive experience working with people who are at different ages and stages of life.

Examples of the things that I have supported individuals with include issues of identity, relationship difficulties, childhood and adult trauma, abuse, spirituality, stress, changes in mood, self-injury, voice hearing, discrimination, sexuality, suicidal thoughts, past, present, future...

Further information

I think it is important for me to say that I am critical of the psychiatric system. While many people find it helpful (and necessary) to get a psychiatric diagnosis, I believe that words carry hidden meanings and power and have been used to stigmatise and generalise. My wish is to hold a space where the 'whole' of you is welcome, free from labels and free to be whole heartedly and unashamedly you.

I do believe that there is an awful lot of inequality and oppression in the world and believe that systems and structures (and labels) can tell false stories about us.

We may find ourselves thinking that we are 'ill' - when in fact the system has forced us to adapt in ways that may appear to be 'symptoms' of 'illness' but are actually very wise and creative parts of us that have helped us to survive in the world.
